Why does my andriod tablet not connect to a wifi network?

[Android Central Question]

I have been connecting to optimumwifi for over a year with this tablet. I have set it up that the device connects automatically. Lately, the device tries to connect to the network, yet just for one second. Then it bounces back to no network. The network is strong. On random occasions it has connected to the network on its own, and disconnected just as randomly. Any advice? I tried restarting, forgetting network, turning on airplane mode, etc.

Does this happen in other places or only at home?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about public wi-fi hotspots that your wi-fi provider has everywhere? Have you already asked their tech support about this? Can you connect to those hotspots with other devices (like your phone)?
