Re: Why is my LG G4 running Android 6.0 have terrible battery life?

Initially I wrote that I'd be keeping an eye on it, because I was suspicious that it was draining a little faster. Yesterday was pretty glaring. I went from fully charged at about 7:30 a.m. to 18% by about 9:00 that night. I had 1.5 hours of screen on, and nothing much other than texting throughout the day (normal for me). After a normal day like that I usually wound up with about 50% battery by the time I cut it off at night, and normally I would charge the phone every 2 days. It's still getting me through a day, but it's clearly not lasting as long.

Unfortunately for me, I can't find anything in the battery usage that jumps out at me, and at least one of the suggested fixes I've seen here and elsewhere aren't available because Verizon seems to have removed the option (thanks, Verizon.....sigh).

I've also been reading for a lot of people the issue seems to magically go away after a while, so I'm going to give it another couple weeks and see what happens. I'm really not in the mood to learn how to downgrade to L.

Re: Why is my LG G4 running Android 6.0 have terrible battery life?

I'm on Marshmallow. T-Mobile version. Battery not so good after upgrade. If I leave it at 100% at night the next morning drops down to below 50% with only the SMS backup and restore running backup.

Android System appears to be way too much?

Can you click on Android system and post that screen shot? I'm guessing either keep awake or GPS is high.

Here it is! I keep location on so the weather app works correctly, but rarely use GPS.

Edit: I was using Root metrics Coverage maps. Removed that - I think it was always collecting and sending data in background - I must have changed that setting. Also I changed GPS to "power savings."

Yep, something had a hold of the GPS for sure.

Eh...today 3h 22m SOT, 53m voice calls, 0 time without signal = 17% at 9:00pm. A little better than the other day but not to Lollipop standards. I'll keep hoping.

No idea what you guys are loading on your phones, but your doing it wrong.

Admittedly this is my day off, but it's well behaved.

Most of us could have eye popping screenshots if we rarely lit the screen.

If you're not using your phone, you're doing it wrong.

Re: Why is my LG G4 running Android 6.0 have terrible battery life?

Dead battery complaints are from the phone dieing when NOT using the phone. Complaining the battery dies when you are using it and have the screen on is just stupid.

my screen uses 37% of my battery. i don't know what's wrong. Maybe I am using my phone too much???? lol

Well I'll tell you for sure that my phone never loses more than 2% overnight (WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth all turned on).

Please stop blaming Android Marshmallow & start looking at what sort of crap you've loaded onto your phone.

No need to reply with nothing constructive to add but a hostile comment. I said my battery issue happened after I moved to Marshmallow. That's just some info that may or may not be relevant. You wrote - "looking at what sort of crap you've loaded onto your phone" I have a modest number of apps. And only apps that are actively under development.

Re: Why is my LG G4 running Android 6.0 have terrible battery life?

Please keep the conversation civil.

Re: Why is my LG G4 running Android 6.0 have terrible battery life?

Mea culpa, sorry.

'Crap' was perhaps obviously a provocative term. Battery life issues on MM must be, however, related to apps that don't work well with it (unless there are some unknown variations with hardware).

Agreed. I recently mentioned that in a different thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...e-very-weak-after-6-0-marshmallow-update.html

I found a few causes of my battery issues - an app called "hoopla" - streaming service from my public library, and also I changed the GPS settings. Still something (likely an app) that's a problem. Over time it will likely straighten out with app updates if I don't find it before then. The hoopla is battery hog so need clear that app after using it.

I've had "legit" apps go rogue. It happens.

I've noticed the same thing. It takes time for developers to optimize apps for then new release. I'm trying Greenify now on my un-rooted phone. May be good as an interim solution until the dust settles with Marshmallow.

Re: Why is my LG G4 running Android 6.0 have terrible battery life?

it is the system log d issue. on gsam it shows up. my phone just sitting idle on my desk loses 1% a minute. Culprit is the system logéd and you canèt turn it off unless you root and rename. Even if you aren not sending log reports its trying to. There is another update that supposedly fixes it but not everyone is pushing it yet.

If anyone has a way to fix this without root, I am all ears
