Why was one of my picture messages sent as a red exclamation mark?

I sent twa texted pictures to my son,the first one

When the sent the second one it ended up sending a red exclamation mark with it as well? It did say that the second picture was sent time stamped and dated?

Welcome to Android Central! Did your son actually receive the second pic? Maybe there was a network problem when you tried to send it. Did you try sending it again?
