I plan on purchasing Nexus 6 from Amazon. Can I just swap the sim from my 2013 Moto X? I hear you cannot, phone must be taken to Sprint store for reactivation.

I've read many times that the Nexus will work on all the carriers. The description that Amazon provides is not correct buy still curious about the sim card

The short and definitive answer is no, it will not, it is a GSM Unlocked phone, and Sprint is CDMA for phone calls, 2 and 3G technology. The LTE bands are also different.

Nexus 6 works on all carriers. Supports all bands, their is only one phone for the US.

You are 100% correct. I used the same phone on TMO, Sprint, and Verizon and got full LTE on all 3 carriers.

The Nexus 6 also has full CDMA support.

Yeah, I bought the Amazon one with the warning that but would not work on Verizon, but it works perfectly fine.

I want to add one more thing regarding the SIM card concern. I've got an HTC One e8 with Sprint right now, sold by Sprint, that has a removable SIM card with the phone. I hear what you're saying about GSM and CDMA and commonly SIM card-based phones are typically GSM phones. It struck me as being very uncommon as well.

Thanks for the confirmations.

Enjoy!

I bought the amazon one and currently love using it on att

You just have to make sure you get a nano sim card, which seems to be elusive at the stores. I had to try 3 before I could find one. Your best bet would be to call sprint orders support at 1-866-789-8292 and have one sent to you. Of course that only matters if you don't already have one.

I bought one last week from Amazon that said "unlocked" and it worked perfectly with my Verizon Nano Sim card that I had on my iPhone 6 plus.

I have to say, I've had the Note 3 and 4. But this phone is AMAZING. Love it so far

I'm using one right now with my Moto X 2013 under contract. So I should be able to jus swap, correct?

If Sprint has the device ID in their system you will be able to activate it. If not, then you'll have a hard time getting it activated and/or extra steps may be needed to get Sprint to enter the ID into their system.

Approximately 2.5 months ago I had someone activate a 64GB Nexus 6 purchased from Google onto my 'Framily' at a corporate store.

I know Sprint has the Google play store numbers in their system, I'm just worried about the Amazon version. Contract is up in November so I will just leave if they will not activate. Seems they would want to keep customers since they are number four now. I have a project Fi card coming anyways. Doesn't matter.

For what it's worth, I purchased a 64 GB Nexus 6 directly from TMO. When I logged into my Sprint account, I was able to enter the serial # of the TMO phone and the Sprint website recognized it as a Nexus 6.

I was also able to confirm via online chat that the serial # was valid and could be activated on Sprint.

If Sprint recognizes TMO and Google Play versions, I am sure Amazon's will work on Sprint.

It will be recognized, I just bought mine from Amazon a few weeks ago and had to go into sprint to get a nano sim and was able to activate it in like 10 mins.

You must have better Sprint stores in your area. 1st one said system doesn't know correct SIM and he guessed...incorrectly. Called tech support and they not only mailed me an uncompatible SIM, they shipped a full sized one. Googled to find the exact SIM I needed and drove to local store only to be told Sprint doesn't have SIM's...only phones. Long argument got salesman to go to back and look for one. He came back with a micro-SIM instead of a nano-SIM. Next store had no SIMs but said corporate store 5 miles away would. That store actually knew the correct part number but didn't have any in stock and sent me to "the biggest corporate store" in the region, 30 miles away! That store didn't know what SIM was needed and when I told them they brought out the wrong SIM which didn't work. Called back online, armed with correct SIM number. Sprint tech said that wasn't correct but she'd send it anyway. SIM arrived and surprise, surprise it wasn't correct one. Called back and tech confirmed their mistake and overnighted another SIM. I would love to relate a happy ending but I won't know till that SIM arrives tomorrow. So far I've got about 8 hours of my time and 100 miles of driving invested into getting the N6 on the Sprint network. It isn't hard to see why Sprint hasn't made any money since 2007 and lost 2 billion last quarter.
