I bought the Blackberry Storm when it first came out in December '08. This was my first step into the smartphone world, and since there was (at the time) nothing to rival Blackberry on Verizon, I jumped at the opportunity.
I liked the phone at first, especially the SurePress. It suited me for my needs, but as time went on, I realized how far behind it really was. If it weren't for the flawless email abilities, I would've dropped it ages ago. Internet is slow, there are very few useful apps (and the ones that I WANT cost too much money or slow the phone down too much), and the whole thing is just not as customizable as I'd hoped.
I decided recently to get the Nexus One. I was willing to skip my NE2 deal in order to just have a phone I could be proud of. I checked Android pages every day for news, but it was always more of the same: N1 coming soon to VZW; N1 delayed...Again; N1 coming to Vodaphone first; etc.
I finally got tired of waiting and checked out the Incredible. It felt good in my hand, was blazing fast (world of difference from the Storm), and had every option I was looking for. I got my name on the waiting list for release day at my local VZW store, but that same day, I had some more bad news...(cue violin music)
My poor Storm cracked right down the center of the screen. It was almost as if it was telling me "It's okay. It's time for you to move on, and it's time for me to move on, too." Of course, I can't use the touch screen for anything now, so my abilities on the Storm are currently limited to: calling the last number that I dialed (thank God it was my wife), receiving all calls, and viewing the first sentence of any emails or texts I receive. Not great when I'm accustomed to accessing and replying to emails, surfing the web, and getting directions. Ah well, only 3 more days!
