Z3v Screen Protector Options

What type of screen protector are you using on your Verizon Sony Xperia Z3v?

I've had the Verizon plastic one on my phone for a few weeks and it is really prone to fingerprints and smudges. Its really ridiculous in my opinion.

I'm wondering if the Verizon glass protector is any better in this respect.

I'm thinking of not using a protector at all, not using a case anyhow and the back glass panel shows zero scratches or wear after having the phone since the day after launch.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

My wife has the 'plastic' ones and yes, they show all the fingerprints.

I picked my Z3v up today (yeah) and they tried to talk me into the tempered glass protector for $24.99. It looked good, but has anyone used it? Fingerprints?

I have tried to use the ones that don't show fingerprints in the past on my phones, but they tend to make the crispness of the screen go away.

I have the glass verizon one and its pretty good....yes it collects fingerprints, but i just wipe them off....

I got the verizon tempered glass when I bought my z3v. It fits edge to edge perfectly. Its thick (not like the new flexible glass they are selling for the Turbo which is way too thin).

It holds fingerprints less than bare screen, and I've seen no lack of sensitivity on any parts of the screen.

Don't hesitate to buy it.

Thanks for the info!

I've been using it naked and it has been holding up rather well considering all the salt and sand it's been through. My previous droid Maxx didn't fare as well with a lot less abuse. What ever glass sony used it's more scratch resistant then gorilla glass.

I jumped it and got one for me and my wife. Had the VZW rep install them too (while we played with the Bose bluetooth speakers). She did a great job installing and was done in a few minutes.

Overall it looks great. It DOES show fingerprints, but not as much as the bare screen.

I haven't been able to find another less expensive glass screen protector. I might end up at a Verizon store to pick one up.

Anymore feedback now that you have been using for a while? How is it holding up?

Had the glass since day one. Fitment is good enough, sensitivity and feel are very good. Not the easiest to install though. Two issues that have come up are the top right corner loses adhesion, lifting up slightly now and then, and some of the coating seems to get weird. Some sections, usually triangular, look like they're stained or something. It's only ever at the edges though, and never on the screen or on places you'd actually press.

The first is usually resolved by firmly pushing it back when it happens, the second I have no idea.

I'd buy it again, if only because it's the only one out there and I prefer the peace of mind.

I"ve had the glass screen protector from Verizon for about 2 months and it's holding up pretty good. Fits very good but it seems to attract more fingerprints and smudges than the pThink glass protector I had on previously. The PThink was sized to fit the Z2 so it was a bit short. My Verizon protector is actually defective with streaks on the oleo coating on the left side. What is the warranty policy on accessories at Verizon? I've yet to find any other glass protectors for this phone.

That must be the same problem I have. I've gone through two though, and both have had the aforementioned issues to varying extents. In regards to warranty I bought mine online, and from the response I received at a Corp store where I got my first replacement, they only did it because I said the phone reps allowed it. YMMV.

Really? Yeah, it seems like there are 3 or 4 lengthwise streaks that collect more oil from my fingers than the rest of the screen. It wipes completely clean on my jeans or a cloth, but any little touch on that side and the streaks instantly show up. Must be a bad batch. The PThink version was absolutely perfect and it barely collected fingerprints and oil. It's just too short.

I stopped at my local malls Zagg kiosk where they put the HD model on my phone, looks and fits perfect... No complaints what so ever. Well worth the $30

I assume that is a glass screen protector for that price?

No regular Zagg, my last one on my other phone lasted forever. They have lifetime warranty and send you a new one if needed. Goes on like window tint

You say it was too short. Do you mean it just doesn't reach the bottom to the bezel, or does it not cover the whole screen?

I believe that the Z3v is the EXACT same as the Xperia Z2 (L50t) China model. There seems to be a good bit of accessories for it as well. I may try a few.

Please let us know if they work! The streaking on mine seems to be getting worse at times, and the top corner isn't going back down anymore. My case is also taking a major beating - ordered a cheap Chinese one to hold me off for now. What I'd do for a case like the Magpul ones for iphone...

The protector doesn't reach the end of the screen. Tis a shame because it was WAY better quality than the Verizon one.
The Z2 is the exact same width as the Z3v, but it is a couple mm shorter than Z3v. China model could be different. Check out my post in the thread discussing cases...my phone is the one with the wooden back cover made for a Z2. That will give you an idea of how short the Z2 screen protector will run.
