Now that the free hotspot promotion has ended, could someone post the steps necessary to get a free hotspot app on the bolt using LTE?
Thanks!

I was told you have to wait until the free promo actually ends on your phone which should be sometime today (July 7th). It doesn't happen to all phones at the same time. If you want to add the paid feature, call *611 on your phone.

You have to root your phone in order to use the free hotspot. In the market there are wireless tether apps but all say you need root access.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because when I turn mine on it still says free.

There are tether apps that don't require you to root, but usually use a USB tether or Bluetooth DUN instead of Wireless.

PDANet is one https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pdanet&hl=en but is sometimes not allowed by carriers so you can download it from PdaNet -- USB Tether/Bluetooth DUN for Android on your PC and then install to your phone.

Easy Tether Lite is another https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mstream.easytether_beta&feature=related_apps

Both free versions cannot use https, the paid versions allow https.

I'm primarily looking for something I can use with my wife's and my ipads. Does the fact that we run on an lte network matter with the rooted hotspot programs?

Im sure it is ending sometime soon..even today maybe..but mine says its still free..for now... it was a good run though. I got to use it on a long car trip and twice when my internet went out at home...but for tyhe price they want and the amount I actually use it..im not going to pay for it.
