Why can't I turn off email notifications ?

My wife and I both have the HTC Desire 510 phones and I can't turn off her email notifications and the noise drives me nuts with all her emails ... My phone and hers are on the same settings and mine does not make a sound when an email comes in... Help !

Which email app are you using? In Gmail you could check the notifications in settings - select account - manage labels - select label - sound - none.
