Galaxy S8 / S8 + Battery Life Thread

Not sure how you all are getting so much screen on time. I can't seem to get close

Do not feel bad, everyone is going to get different results. It varies quite a bit depending on apps installed, usage, reception, etc. Just because you are not getting the screen on time that some others are does not mean anything is wrong at all.

For comparison, here is my S7 edge.

I'm amazed. The S8+ is the best battery I've ever had on a phone. Actively TRYING to kill it. 100% brightness. QHD. Streaming movies, Twitch, YouTube. Beyond impressed. Well done, Samsung.

Mine is down to 55% after 19 hours off the battery and SOT is 3 hours and 15 minutes.

I'm on T-Mobile.

I do too. Friday my battery was down to 50% with only 45 minutes SOT. My 7 Plus only goes down 7% max throughout work. Yesterday I just kept it on airplane mode all day so it was ok. Just seems stupid though to have to do that.

My experience with S7 Edge was just the opposite. Battery life started off terrible and got better. It only went down drastically after updating to Android 7.0 (one of the reasons you never see me crying about not getting the newest OS fast enough). Ultimately it wouldn't even matter to me anyway, because I always have a wireless charger and when my phone is not in use, I always set it down on it. So battery life has never been a major issue with me.

My experience with the s7edge was the battery was horrible right off the bat. In 5 hours at work, not using the phone in my pocket. I would be down to 40-50%. Since nougat with it's more advanced doze settings I only lose about 2% an hour when I'm not using the phone. After nougat I can get a whole day out of my phone instead of just 7-8 hours with 2 hours sot. I even got 7 hours sot a few times after nougat.

Well, here's my stats on my s8+ at almost 24 hours on battery. Auto brightness and WQHD. Not quite as good as everyone else's but still good. The one thing I noticed is the high phone radio and Wi-Fi usage. This is not normal on my other phones. I have good signal too. If it wasn't for the two radios my battery would be amazing

That's a bummer to disable a new expensive device to make the day, since Apple is going to use Samsung displays on the new iPhone why can't Samsung use a Apple battery then we would have the best of both worlds.
Now that I'm back with Samsung I need to carry a charger in my car

They only used 8% & 11% in 22 hours. That isn't so bad.

I've just never seen them anywhere near that high on my other phones. Including my s7 edge

So far so good here with the S8. I haven't checked out the stats, but my work place is a giant Faraday Cage. No signal gets in or out. My G5 and Honor 8 left work with 50-60% battery. Yesterday, my first day in that building with the phone, I left with 71%.

Man, I do the same thing. Airplane mode for 3-4 hours of an 8 hour shift.

I think it's more the software optimization. Its like that on all my Android phones.

Hi guys, quick question here. Do you wait until the battery is low before putting it back on the charger? Is it bad to throw it on the charger while at my desk and it's at 70% battery?

Bump charging is not bad for lithium ion batteries.
