- You need to confirm that you are actually swiping on the fingerprint sensor. Not the camera, not the LCD display, not the speaker. Don't mean to insult you here.
You should be swiping the black pad near the top, rear of the phone.
Press down lightly. If it still doesn't recognize the swipe when the enrollment screen is actually looking for a swipe, then you probably need to head back to AT&T.02-22-2011 01:23 PMLike 0 - You need to confirm that you are actually swiping on the fingerprint sensor. Glad you solved it!!02-22-2011 03:13 PMLike 0 -
Say for instance, you leave the phone at home and need to get some info from it. You could call home and give someone the pin to unlock it.02-22-2011 03:15 PMLike 0 -

If you want no security, then go back into the security settings and select "none" for the security choice. It's under Location & Security---Change Screen Lock.
But personally, I find it's easier to use the fingerprint sensor than any of the alternatives including the no-security option.02-22-2011 04:44 PMLike 0 - If you want any security at all, it will work this way. Pattern or PIN requires the button press to wake the device. In fact, I think any Android device will still force you to press the button, then slide the unlock bar across the display.

because having to push down on the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone before swyping fingerprint is a little akward03-15-2011 04:19 PMLike 0 - 03-15-2011 04:47 PMLike 0

Any idea if they'll start expanding its use, like different fingers taking you directly to apps? That would be awesome and make it a feature to actually be jealous of03-15-2011 05:55 PMLike 0 - Is it possible to set up the scanner to do things like log you into apps or websites which require account passwords? Or maybe as the master password on a password manager program? That's where I see the real value in the hardware; I mean you're carrying it around all the time, why only use it at the lock screen?03-18-2011 09:09 PMLike 0

- It did worry me, but being that there is also the number lock as backup, i'm no longer worried. only time it doesn't go through is when i try to be silly and swype fast on purpose or not do the whole print. It's accurate as heck and I love it.
My friend (the one who sold it to me) was saying it was pointless to have the number lock as well, but i think the opposite. glad it's there as backup, just in case the scanner goes bizerk.
one thing i like about it is that you can not "watch me type my password" or "see the pattern I make". you need MY finger. HAH03-19-2011 03:29 AMLike 0 -
- I just got the device two days ago, and it came with 4.1.83 loaded. I cannot get the scanner to set up. No way, no how. I've tried fast swipes, slow swipes, and light swipes, and heavy swipes and every combination therein, and all I get is a message saying "swipe was too short". I looked on supportforums.motorola.com and there seems to be an issue with this update and the scanner. Anybody else using 4.1.83 and swiping with success?
https://supportforums.motorola.com/m.../379352#37935205-13-2011 02:07 PMLike 0 - Some days the scanner and I get along, others not so much. That said, I tried turning it off after using it for awhile and enabled it again about 10 min later. Definitely the easiest way to unlock the phone.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk05-13-2011 02:24 PMLike 0 - The fingerprint scanner is NOT very secure. I enrolled my left index finger. Then just as a test, I decided to try to logon with my index finger on my right hand - which I have never enrolled. What'ya know, it successfully logged me in on the first swipe.
Since then, I have been able to logon with almost any finger.
Same for you?05-13-2011 04:18 PMLike 0 - The fingerprint scanner is NOT very secure. I enrolled my left index finger. Then just as a test, I decided to try to logon with my index finger on my right hand - which I have never enrolled. What'ya know, it successfully logged me in on the first swipe.

Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk05-13-2011 04:54 PMLike 0 - I disabled the fingerprint reader because I couldn't get the phone to allow calls from my bluetooth headset without taking the phone out and unlocking it with my finger...
Anyone know if I am missing a setting someplace or that has been able to get past the fingerprint scanner to make a call without swiping your finger?
Thanks for any help.05-13-2011 05:05 PMLike 0 - The scanner is acting up for me as well after the update. When it works it works very well but will quit working without any logic. Previously it was only happening when I had the phone powered off for any length of time but just today it stopped for no reason.
I hope this is corrected soon.05-13-2011 05:24 PMLike 0
