2.1 Lite!!! Option 4

I know this is probably a small deal but i got really used to seeing the photos for all linked facebook contacts in my "People." There is some sort of bug with the HTC for Facebook that doesn't allow me to link profiles for contacts whose names are after the letter "J" ...? Any ideas?

Weird. Works for me.

Beezy,

I'm sure you saw the rumored 2.1 official release for next week. What should we do if we want to use the official update? Should we just wait for a Rom? I have all the functionality of 2.1 xcept the Google nav so its not adding much.....

I would wait til we get a flashable rom of the official release.(I) would never go completely back to stock. It shouldn't take that long to get a flashable version up after we get the official release.Ive been busy learning as much linux stuff as i can. Also i beleive that the you would lose root if you upgrade to official. Then you would have to wait for someone to figure out how to root that.

Beezy,
Would like to be able to install OpenVPN to the Hero and connect to my home network whose router has Tomato firmware with Teddy Bear / OpenVPN mod. Is there anything special about adding tun.ko to /system/lib/modules and using OpenVPN Installer to add the binary? Research indicates some ROMS have tun.ko cooked in and some don't.

Thanks for the great ROM.

So, it's been a couple weeks since flashing this ROM, and I love it so far. However, there are a couple things that seem to just cause the phone to lag

Google Nav - This BARELY runs. Whenever I attempt to run this... I have to reboot the phone. Is it a limitation of this ROM?
Handcent SMS - This used ran great on the Gumbo 1.5c ROM... but now, it lags pretty bad when composing texts.

Any ideas of what I can do?

Not that this helps any but I don't have either of those issues, both work well here.
Only problem I had was losing audio.

Oddest thing

After about a week, most of the kinks have almost magically worked themselves out for me.

Google Nav is still a no-go, but I don't mind the Sprint Nav.

Audio is working no problems at all now...took about 3 days and it's not cut out at all for a few. Never applied a fix.

Handcent has had no more issues either. It's always been a bit laggy on my phone, so maybe I just don't know the difference. Never ran Gumbo.

One weird thing though, has any one with this beezy lite opt 4 rom tried to uninstall a program in the settings>apps menu? It will uninstall once for me, then FC instead of a confirmation screen. It works though, then if I go back in it's gone and I can uninstall another.

I haven't ran into to that, ill check it out.

Workin great for me still except google nav which i havent tried again since the first time when it FC'd

Welp, I think I figured what was causing Handcent to lag. I was thinkin back to when I FIRST flashed the ROM, it was fine... then I flashed the ERIS audio patch, and that's when it started. So, I snagged the AudioFixRC patch and flashed it last night... so far it seems to be running a bit smoother. There's still a SLIGHT lag, but a vast improvement from before.

I'm running RC, not Eris, that may well be the cause.

Definitely awesome. Simple steps for mac found on this board, cool new 2.1 and I am off to find a working swype apk just to goof around with. Thanks!

It doens't automatically do it, I have an 8GB card, so I went wild with 500mb. Obviously, that wouldn't be prudent for you. Stock is 159mb free, You could just do that, or maybe 256 or something along those lines. Its a little misleading as not everything gets saved to the SD card, it still takes up space internally, but less than it normally would (Apps2SD 2.5 saves a buttload more).

Hi guys! first post on here....

I rooted my phone, flashed the 2.1 leak rom and whatnot (used option 4 and then added back voicemail). Today I decided that bc I have 55 apps and keep having to delete them, i should run apps2sd. So i backed up my SD card (8 gb) and went into reboot recovery. when partitioning i had two things: swap-size and ext-size (technically 3 bc then the remainder). I have over a gig free and seeing the above post by Rufflez, under swap-size i put 512, then saw the ext-size! i put 512 on there too. What should I have done? I know it's a personal choice what you have partitioned, i guess i just don't know what the two are?

And also, what happens to my apps now?

Sorry to be such a n00b, there aren't a lot of good explanations of this process out there.

you could have left the swap size at 32mb, I would redo it.
The EXT is where the apps are going to be installed.

Okay, i probably will. I had no idea what that meant LOL.

Also, are the apps automatically moved there? What about new ones that I d/l?

I should say I use the Astro File Manager app.

if the ROM you use has it built in (ie options 3/4 and pretty much all the ROM's at xda-developers.com), then its automatic. I should also note that not 100% of the app is moved there, and no you can't see them when they are mounted. It does save some space though.

hmmm, ok so i went back and put the swap-size back to 32, and now my HTC Sense keeps force closing... i've been using HTC Sync's ADB to get it into reboot recovery, and I can turn on HTC sync, but I can't do the USB debugging from the phone... so i'm not sure how to reboot...

anyone have any advice?

PS - thanks sooo much for your help and patience.
