Any Radio Shack employees here? What do you get for the one year upgrade?

From what I have heard so far, Best Buy does not do 1 year upgrades, Sprint will charge you retail price minus $75.00.

What does Radio Shack do? A friend of mine bought an Evo 4g on launch day last year and he only had the one year upgrade eligibility and I think he landed up paying $375, how exactly does this break down?

I am just wondering because I will only be eligible for the 1 year upgrade this year because I am on a business plan which hasn't reached Premier status of any kind yet and wanted to get an idea of what an Evo 3d will land up costing me.

if you're eligible for an upgrade you will get the new customer discount which is the full discount.
when new phones come out i always call sprint and order them with next day delivery. they also allow you to charge the phone to your bill so you can pay for it over the next month. i'm not an employee of any electronics store. i've just been a sprint customer for 10 years.

Sounds too good to be true, but if it is, I'll take it. They also said that I can trade my old Evo in at the same time and they will take that right off the price. A Evo 4g in good condition should be worth around 130 dollars. Works for me!

If you are a Premiere Gold customer, you get

If you qualify for the 150 off, Sprint may, at their discretion let you have a new phone at "New Customer Pricing" which discounts more than 150 off a select phone.

So, saying that the 1 year upgrade is 75 dollars more than the 2 year upgrade is accurate since you get 75*2=150 Off on the 2 year upgrade. When the aevo 4g was released, it cost 450 dollars. At the 1 year upgrade price, it would be 75 dollars off, so that would be 375.

Update:

Finally got around to looking into this again today. The OG Evo with a 1 yr upgrade (@ year renewal, $75 discount) Does start at a bit lower price, bringing the total with the $75 off to $374.

So It's not much of an extra savings, but better than $75 off alone.

Aha! I knew it! Factor in the 135 bucks they should give me for my Evo as a trade in and I am looking at about 240 plus tax....not all that bad!

What exactly does the math look like to arrive at that number. And yes, I made a mistake when I said 367, I meant 376.

No real math to it, it just comes up that price. But figuring, it looks like the phone starts at a discounted $449 instead of $499 and then adds the $75 off to get down to $374.

I'm a shack employee, have been one for a long time. Sprint 1 year upgrades work as this: take your 2 year upgrade price and add 75 bucks. Radioshack does get special offers that other retailers do not.

Just the other week I sold a evo and a shift in 1year upgrades, both were tag price + 75$.

there is no trickery here, #1 reason radioshack is #1 for sprint users.

Same phones, same service, just better prices.

Also another reason prices differ.

In California for example. Evo one year:199. 99 + 75 + tax (full retail is taxed)

In arizona: 199.99 + 75 + tax (only on the 274~)

So there can be state-to-state differences. Check local tax laws corresponding to instant rebates.

You pay them.. to buy it back later??

HTC evo 499.99 - 12 months later (assuming 1 year upgrade) - bestbuy 150$.

Now minus the 59.99 you paid for the Buyback...

you net 90$????

Radioshack at least gives straight up no buying extras offers. (For example, right here and now HTC evo 184$ trade in)

I am by no means trying to be Big box store specific, but I dont see how in any shape or form this is a good program other than really good scam marketing.

Best Buy is good at scamming people. Read somewhere that they were charging up to $49.99 to hook up ps3's. At most, it's three wires. Then there was the computer "optimization" they were forcing down peoples throats.

Also, Best Buy Retail for the Evo 4g is 649 I believe? So with the 1 year upgrade it would cost 575. Then you pay like 60 or 70 bucks for the buy back program, and they will buy it back from you for at best 50% of retail price, so that would 325 - 60 bucks for being part of the program and you get back 265 so you still paid around 400 bucks for an Evo which is only 40 bucks less than it would have been if you would have paid retail at Sprint.

Not going for that program, that's for sure.

Can't wait to see how much the Evo 3d will really cost me once it comes out!
