Any Regrets?

I never regret buying new phones

Especially Samsung ones since they have great trade in offers and pre order goodies, and retain value for the next trade in. From what limited time I have, the phone is feeling great to use. Still have to test out the camera.

Love the almost flat screen, that's the biggest thing I'm liking lol

I got to the s20+ coming from the OG Pixel after the Note 7 fiasco. I never thought I would come back to Samsung but I'm loving this phone so far. It's a bit of a learning curve but it's been fun so far! No regrets!

I love the new camera and 5G hardware. I'm betting that new software is going to improve almost everything about this phone over the next 6 months. I think the camera IS better than the Note 10+ (which I traded in for $700) re: the optical (and digital) zoom capabilities. I'm thrilled.

I mentioned unlocking developer options :) I thought forcing it might help with the choppiness. Guess not though.

Yea I've been in the developer options with the LDAC settings since day one with the Sony WH-1000XM3 with my S10. It sucks that at least the manual 660kbps setting doesn't stick between powering the headphones off and on and that I have to go into developer options every time to manually set it from the default adaptive.

I was really hoping that the S20 would allow the top 990kbps setting but it's the same choppy sound as the S10. Higher bitrate LDAC really makes a difference in sound quality if you have the hardware to take advantage of it - it makes wireless Bluetooth usable for a audiophile. It's like going from a S3 camera to a S20 Ultra lol.

I need to contact Sony since they should know better than anyone of their headphones can support the full bitrate of their own codec. I'm curious what device is at fault.

This is great to hear. That 30X is still pretty good IMO.

When I get back on my PC I can post pics I took today of objects from different zoom levels with a S10 shot fully zoomed for comparison.

Not shocked my Gray Ultra is delayed here in Philippines. Two weeks at least and I'm going back on the 10th.

I'm thinking about the Z Flip now.

I decided to return my S20 ultra. It’s not a bad device, but for $1400 I was expecting better 5G performance, better in screen fingerprint scanner, and most of all better cameras. The cameras are the biggest let down for me. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a Pixel 4 XL and I love the cameras on both. The S20 is not a bad phone at all, but for $1400 those particular shortcomings shouldn’t exist. I just got my return label sent to me, gonna package it up and send it back today.

I'm the same though I just have the regular S20. If I spent $1400 it would be an even easier decision.

I'm not that thrilled with the camera. I also have a Pixel 4 and iPhone 11 Pro and I find the S20 to fall short of both of those phones with image quality, especially compared to Pixel in low light, and falls short of iPhone in video. The screen sure is nice but I still find my Pixel 4 more comfortable to use. I'm also sorely disappointed with the Galaxy Buds+ that came with pre-orders in Canada. They are nowhere near the Airpods Pro in or even BeatsX in sound quality. That could be because I simply cannot get them to fit my ears, even with the biggest tips and wings on. They're made for tiny ears.

I'm humming and hawing about returning. I have 13 days to decide.

Yea the Buds+ suck. I received mine tonight and I'm sorry I wasted my $200 credit on them. Maybe someday wireless ear buds will support high bitrate LDAC and sound good. After playing around with the Buds+ I went back to my Sony WH-1000XM3 and holy moly what a difference but it's not a fair fight because the WH-1000XM3s are full size flagship headphones but I also compared to the wired AKGs and they were still better than the Buds+. With Bluetooth you really need the good codecs first and foremost.

I know you mentioned it. Just clarifying that it does help. It doesn't retain the setting and it doesn't work without constant hiccups. The second highest setting works but it requires going into the developer options each time after a reset. Honestly, running it in LDAC best available mode is more than adequate.

Since LDAC is proprietary I doubt we will see any buds with that protocol unless Sony allows it. I am somewhat puzzled that Sony doesn't release a set of LDAC compatible buds unless it's a hardware configuration that keeps them from doing so.

I'm surprised that the Buds+ sound that bad too you. There is no question that they simply can't compete with the WH1000XM3s but I find the Buds+ much better than the first generation Buds.

I have a feeling "best effort" is using 660 all or most of the time but I haven't confirmed that. I'm not sure what the signal issue is that prevents the best setting.

The phone is ok, my s10 plus has options i wish was on the s20 ultra. I also went through the developer options and noticed it states i only have 15gb of ram compared to the 16gb that I was under the impression I was getting when I pre-ordered the phone. It has a lot of useless options that I will probably never use and when I have time away from my 10 hour work days I will play with the camera settings and check the photo quality compared to my s10 plus.
