Anyone coming from iPhone 7 or Plus?

Duo is pretty nice. Not sure what your granddaughter uses to FaceTime with you, but Duo may need a phone number. Facebook is terrible, but their messaging app works wonders for those who are on it. Easy calling and sharing of videos. My mom uses it, and has an iPhone, so I can still contact her through it and send videos of the grandkids with it. There are definitely usable options. And I agree that iOS does have some great smoothness to it. I do like it. I just get really bored with it. Android feels like the future. iOS feels like 5+ years ago.

My grand daughter actually uses my wife's iPhone to FaceTime me (she babysits her 3 days a week) when I use my iPhone. That's where the problem comes in because I rarely use my iPhone anymore.

I did load Duo and will give it a shot on Tuesday when my grand daughter comes over. She likes to video chat with me when I'm on lunch at work.

I'll have to check out Duo. Thanks for the heads up. As for Facebook, I've never had a Facebook page. Just never got into it. My wife has one though.

I've gone back and forth with iOS and Android for a while. That's part of the reason I just won't sell my iPhone. IOS always seemed to be just a little smoother even though it is more locked down than Android. The Pixel is the first Android phone that has made me stay off iOS for any length of time. I liked my S7E but this Pixel is just next level to me. I'm really enjoying it and it does all I ask it to do. If I could just get it to take out the trash, it'd be perfect.
Well said. The Pixel is the first Android phone to get me away from iPhone. I've been using FB messenger and while it's good, I still think iMessage is still the best.

I use Textra on my Pixel but it just doesn't handle things like iMessage does. Biggest issue I have with Textra is it doesn't handle group texting as well as iMessage does. At times I won't get some of the group texts for an hour after they were actually sent. At other times I don't get all the group texts at all. Never really had that issue with iMessage.

Still not enough to make me stay on iOS. Just can't put my Pixel down. I'm pretty sure things will just continue to get better with the Pixel. I just hope Android can come up with an iMessage equivalent. Hasn't as of today....

Allo is great. I think it could be an iMessage killer if Google were to focus on it.

For me Allo can only be great if Google says it must be the default messenger on all Android devices. Having to get friends to install it and whatnot is the downfall.

Allo is dead in the water. Unless Google just implement it in Google Messenger I don't see the point

Totally agree. The potential is there but Google needs to focus on it v

The 7 Plus is a nice device. Fast, fluid, water and dust resistance, extreme ease of use. That last bit is what also makes it a bit boring to some (and, currently, me). Most of the iPhone's excitement MUST come third party apps. To a great many, that is enough. To my husband, that is enough. He loves his iPhone 7 Plus.

All I can say right now, to sum up my feelings is thank goodness for the latest renditions of Android. Hardware choices aplenty, customization, AND the fun of 3rd party apps. Different strokes....

Hey guys I am making the switch to Android (again) in the next few days when my 128gb Pixel XL arrives in the mail. I like my iPhone, but not because of the software. I love the speakers, camera and slight water resistance of my phone (that last one is more of a peace of mind thing) and am worried I will miss those a lot on the Pixel. I understand the camera on the Pixel is very good and mostly on par with the 7 Plus without the extra camera and can deal with the water resistance being gone. I am hoping for better reception as my iPhone 7 Plus does not get good reception on Verizon who I just switched to. Has anyone made the switch? Did you regret the choice or are you happy with it? Any tips? I am an Android veteran, in fact I may know more about Android than iOS so not like Android specific tips but more Pixel specific tips.

Thank you guys.

I switched from 7 plus note 7 before that. The speakers, water resistance and just general bug free nature of the iPhone you will miss. Especially if you use Bluetooth alot. Overall I'm happy but I wish I could just switch back and forth from time to time. Except for the whole unable to use Bluetooth in my car for phone calls. That part is annoying. I have no clue why they couldn't fix that with 7.1.

Yep the BT issue with my 2016 Honda Accord is what made me break up with my Pixel.

I sold my iPhone 6S so I'm actually having to use an iPhone SE.

It's interesting to see so many people having the BT issues and then so many people not having the issue. I have the pixel and have zero BT issues. The one issue I did have got fixed with the most recent update. That was the text notification alerting me of all my messages every time I got in the car. Not a problem anymore. My one issue now (it's not really an issue but more so a con of the pixel) is the bad quality of video recording indoors.

Yes there have been several updates and none have helped with the BT issue. Funny thing is it works perfect for music. I guess I will ride it out with this SE until 10th anniversary iPhone comes out this year lol

I had no Bluetooth issues until I read this thread. LOL the other day I was listening to music then I got a call but my didn't connect through the speakers. Only happened once so far but hopefully there is a fix

I think Facebook messenger would be a better option than that. More probability of finding people on it

Thanks for the info but Facebook is not an option for me at this point as I dont have a Facebook account. Never really got into it. The wife does but I just never had a big interest in it.

To move from iPhone from Android is kinda tricky for a music lover like me.
I always got a bunch of music in iTunes which I pay every month...I know other music apps might also be great, but I still want my downloads come with me...
so I find a way out to save apple music in my local folder (with the help of a third-party software - Apple Music Converter). I convert iTunes music to MP3, then I can copy them to my new Android phone.
