Anyone get Note 8 just to kill time till the real king arrives, LG V30!

Don't forget forums also have viral marketers hanging out pushing certain phones and making snide comments on other phones.

Yes, ad agencies have discussion form agents too, but they get paid normal rate or they may already be employees who post on forums. The way the pay rate for major influencers work is very different.

The top players are of course the Kardashians of the world, the whole family. To get paid $200 grand to just mention a product is routine for them. But they are at the top.

However, a YouTube influencer's pay rate is based on number of subscribers. Does it have 100K or 5 mil subscribers. Anyone with a million or more subscribers who is actually into a specific industry, meaning focusing on cosmetics, entertainment, tech, cars, music, youth lifestyle and so on, gets offered very lucrative deals to promote brands and are given freebees, travels, cars to drive and so on, routinely.

I'm just speaking from my personal experience. I have used many different phones and I always come back to the Note line.

I haven't even bothered trying to go to any other phones since I switched over to a Note 3 years ago. I keep up with the industry to be able to give good advice to friends who are looking for a newer phone; but I'm an SPen junkie, so that my criteria for a new phone.

If I was recommending a newer phone to someone who is not a heavy note taker or doesn't take advantage of the ability to selectively edit text or images I could not in good conscience promote the Note 8 over the S8 series or the V20 or V30.

For me the competition from LG for the Note is their own Stylus series.

I understand that and the Note may be a great device for you and many others. There's no denying that. It's just not for everyone, myself included. I don't want a phone that tall, I don't like the edge display (although it better than the S8 & S8+) and the stylist is a moot point for me. The Note 8 camera looks like it'll be killer but I like the LG wide angle camera...

Even though the V30 is my choice it's not a 100% slam dunk either. I work construction and a glass back phone doesn't seem as practical although I do gain water resistance.

This year is providing some very nice phones from the G6 to the S8 and the V30 to the Note. Not to mention the Pixel phones and the Mate 10 still coming down the line.
Have you seen the note in person? The height is actually really nice paired with a manageable width that's skinnier than my note 5. And what's wrong with the edge display? It feels like a much less dramatic curve than the S8+; there's more flat screen real estate on the note 8.

PS....Because you've done it multiple times, I'm not sure if you're saying stylist because you think it's some low key funny insult, a swiping error, or something else, but either way I have a hard time taking whatever you say seriously because of it.

Stylus lol. (speech to text). No insult intended at all.

Yes I have seen the Note 8 and I agree with you it feels better then the S8+

Didn't consider speech to text. My apologies.

coming From a note 5, I too had concerns initially about the new aspect ratio, but after spending a few minutes with the note 8 it just looked and felt like a huge upgrade for me

Same for me. When I bought my daughter's G6 (albeit a smaller phone) I wasn't sure if I'd like the ratio. Turns out I'm a big fan. It's pretty amazing how much display we're getting on phones now. I also don't want to sound like I'm hating on the Note because I actually really like it (I'd get the orchid gray). I'm just listing the reasons I'm going with the V30

G6, V10, V20, S8, S8+, Note 4,5,7 and now Note 8. Ugh, I could have had a V8... Note 8 EOS for me....

Just curious why you are on the note forums if you have no intentions of getting a note? (Not being a jerk an actually curious)

There is no rule locking me to specific forums

I'm 99% sure I'll be getting the V30 but until my money is spent I still like to see what all phones offer and other users experiences are.

Same reason I check out every phone Best buy has lol.

I've had all the LG flagships since the G4, and also S7, N7, S8+ and soon Note 8. There's a lot to like in both phones. The LG camera is amazing if you have the time to set the shot up and play with the controls, and the wide angle is great for landmarks/mountain scenes etc. The Samsung is a much better point and shoot 'capture the unexpected moment with clarity' camera, and much better in low light.

Performance wise, I had no issues with any of them. They all were fast and virtually lag free, but I'd tip that one to LG. As ugly as the UX is, it's not as heavy a coat of paint as the Samsung. It's a bit snappier, but at the cost of being unappealing to look at. Of course Samsung wins on the screen every time, even against the V30 IMHO.

I like LG, and I like Samsung (most of the time). I will most likely get the V30 at some point in the next few months. Hiking weather is going to be here in AZ soon and I really miss that wide angle :)

The problem being the animations. For some reason Samsung animations are slower and more relaxed. Tip the animation settings for both devices to off for actual comparison.

Your never buying an LG phone ever again because the LG did have any special software??

That's like saying I'll never buy a Google Pixel again because it didn't come with any special software. :-\

It was late and I didn't express myself fully. If any android phone does not have anything special... Then what's the point. When I had my note 7 I actually used the pen a lot... And going from the note to the lg was really making me miss the note 7. So yeah v20 has a good camera and that's it. I also began to hate my v20.. 2nd screen is useless and half baked. The screen has burn in... Several games I play lag... Many times I've had to reboot my phone because it won't allow me to make calls. Before that I had the g5 and got the boot loop... Replaced it then one day it just died and wouldn't come back on.

The functionality of the pen, I just loved.. Using the pen to highlight, copy and paste comes in handy... Samsung has the best ocr tech I've ever seen. Samsung has great software that connects to my TV... So i can watch my TV on my phone or if I need to be quiet.. Send just the audio to my phone while I watch video on my TV....just tons of functionality... If all I wanted was a device to run apps..or take pics.. I'd get an iphone or any random android...

It's not about a perfect device it's also not about LG versus Samsung because in the end Apple wins because there's more people rocking iPhones than Samsung than anything else but Samsung is right there yes the Galaxy Note for older users and know what it's for understand the capabilities and love it for that very same reason but I'm knock on LG is they don't stand next to us that's all it is hands down. I have yet to meet someone with an LG phone

There's some supporting evidence...

Far from the global picture though

World>US

So yeah, the Chinese OEM's are coming fast. Huawei (Honor and Huawei), Xiamoi, BBK (Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo), ZTE, Lenovo (Moto, ZUK), TCL (Alcatel, Blackberry), LeEco, - together these guys outweigh Samsung by a lot, they're coming for the global market at large and they're starting to spread out into traditionally Korean (LG & Samsung) markets. Samsung is 50% ahead of Apple's #2 spot, but that's not as big a lead as it seems. When your competition is putting up 20-30% year over growth and stringing that together quarter after quarter, remaining flat is not that much of a victory. One thing Samsung does have going for them though, Q3 and Q4 this year won't be anywhere near as poor as last year's performance and they could gain a little bit of traction.

Well a bad quarter for Samsung is a good one for Apple. But consider that Samsung also has a lot of models. Honestly I find it unfair to compare Samsung and Apple mainly because Samsung has alternatives in the Android world. If you go iOS, there's only one brand.
