Are the Pixel speakers likely to be louder than the speakers on the Nexus 6P or HTC M8/M9?

I believe the M8, M9 and 10 will continue to be the best in that department, in that particular order.

True, but I also don't use it as a boombox. A single speaker is perfectly sufficient for Youtube videos, gaming, calls/notifications/alarms, which is what most people would need the speakers for.
Exactly, it is sufficient but not great. I expect from a premium device much more.

There is not a phone in existence that has anything close to "good" speakers. When phones start to outperform $30 BT speakers then sure, it's reasonable to want that on every other device. Until that point sufficient will have to suffice.

The closest any phone or tablet comes to "good" speakers is the big iPad Pro. You can actually hear the bass, mids aren't muddy, and highs aren't harsh or tinny.

As indicated here, none of the flagships have dual front facing stereo speakers and most flagships do not have dual speakers at all this year. It's also unclear whether or not the Pixel has dual stereo speakers, so this talking point may be something to keep in your pocket until next year - this year it's pretty much a zero on the speaker standpoint with all of the focus from OEM's being on using headphones.

That's what most people would say about the HTC 10 that you are happy with. Speaker volume and quality is not even close to being near the top of important features in a smart phone. My Samsung single speaker can notify me of calls and texts just as well as the HTC 10 or Nexus 6P can.

The only reason that the HTC hasn't been successful is marketing. Of course it is not perfect, but it is excellent in all areas. People wouldn't know though, as they only choose between Apple and Samsung.

It isn't marketing. The problem is that it is a middle of the road device.

From what I've seen, the pixel has bottom facing speakers that probably won't be too good. I think they're putting more effort into the headphone jack.

I'm actualy good with headphone, so I'm grateful that Google don't follow iPhone's footstep in that aspect !!!! :D Don't use the speakers too much!

You may be correct (have you personally tested every phone in existence?) however the Nexus 6P does have pretty darned good dual, stereo, front-facing speakers. I don't use them often as when listening to music it is usually through Bluetooth earbuds, but when I do use the 6P's speakers they are a heck of a lot better than any previous single-speaker or bottom-facing speaker phone I have ever owned.

I actually have heard all of the phones that have supposedly "good" speakers. They all sound worse than a $20 BT speaker.

In the context of phones only sure, some are better than others. In the context of "good speakers" they are all bad. No bass, mids are just ok, and highs are tinny/harsh.

I do not expect that to change since you can only do so much in a phone sized device.

Contrast this to cameras, where you need to spend significantly more to get an appreciably better experience (zoom being the only exception).

Hardly, You even used one for any length of time? No lag since day one for one thing. Sam's hung can't say that with any regularity. It is their poor marketing strategies or maybe not enough in the budget to get a good marketing company to work for them. The reason their fan base is small and possibly getting smaller. Sam's hung giant crushes everything in it's path. Perhaps the Note 7 fiasco will help even things out just a tad.

Actually, there's nothing spectacular about the htc 10 if we're being honest here. A very bare bones/boring UI and yet its not even stock android that'll give you timely and sure updates (ironically), ok design, ok screen, ok build quality, good camera, even they lost the dual ff speakers with an even less effective set-up.
What's worse, they lost the IR blaster and FM Radio too. Such a boring phone tbh. Yes the phone might be very snappy but that isn't all there's is to a phone. It isn't like the samsungs take 5 seconds to open any apps or complete any everyday action.

This is your opinion. 99℅ of reviews disagree with you.
I've seen the reviews - they agree with me.

You say it isn't a middle of the road device and the only reason you can give to show that it isn't is "no lag". After the V20 is releases, the HTC 10 will literally have no class leading features. Even with the supposed lag of the Note 7, the Note 7 is still way faster than the HTC 10 in speed tests.

I'm fine with agreeing that we are not in agreement regarding the HTC 10.

Well, certainly Google pixel can't beat the high res dolby digital with HTC boom sound and built in amps provide the best sound available. Nexus have not done that good that HTC in sound.
