If I use the ROM download from the HTC site, will it erase all my pictures and music?

Yes. Updating via a computer will cause a factory reset. Updating via OTA will not.

Where did you find the update for Lollipop online at HTC? Is it for AT&T?
On your phone go to Settings>AT&T Software Update and follow the prompts.
While doing my update went into standby mode. When I woke it up I couldn't see the progress bar or the download icon, so I couldn't tell if the download had stopped. After I shut off Bluetooth and Mobile Data, I could see it was still downloading. It took about 45 minutes. So be patient, and wait for the download to complete, and then do the install.
I'm very happy with the new features of Lollipop, especially the lock screen notifications, and the Smart Unlock features.
You can use a different app and it should let you have notifications. I use hello SMS, but others here have highly recommended Textra. For me, I can see the message or at least the beginning of it as well as the sender.
Am I the only one who still hasn't received the update??? Tried setting the time forward and nothing... :-(

I had just bought my M8 a week before the update so maybe the gallery has always functioned this way. I am being asked to sign into an email address when I try to send a photo directly from the gallery itself but dos not accept the gmail address I used to set the phone up. Going to the app I can attach pics no problem and am signed in just fine there. Is there something I am missing or has this started after the update? Anyone else have the problem? Thanks for any help in advance.
Also I have a handful of pre installed and or htc apps that say that the phone is not compatible with them. Can I do anything with these and are there any I should not disable in general besides the more obvious ones? Mine is from At&t if that helps
