Went to att to check it out. Screen looks great. The phone is fast. Only thing I didn't like was the plastic backing. Maybe it was the display model but it was a hard plastic and didn't feel as nice. Hopefully it was just the display model.
I thought that the back would be a soft faux leather. Or am I missing something here

I'm not sure why this is, but the white model has the plastic feeling back, while the black model feels more like leather.

Correct the white is supposed to be a little more hard/glossy feeling as I underatand it. I dont know the reason though. I will say att had their note 3 in rhode island locked up like you wouldn't believe! 2 zip ties, and about 4 inches of leash, and the s pen hidden, or stolen. I was hoping to play a little until tmobile release on Wednesday, but it only has att bloatware on it, no, spen, and 2 tie wraps that hinder the screen almost useless.

AT&T bloat apps? Like what for instance? j/w

Also, this does tend to happen. Sometimes the method for coloring something black is completely different from coloring it white. I believe it happened with the Nintendo DS and people were having issues because one color made the device fit incorrectly (something like that anyway).

Yeah, I think it is honestly the darker die in the plastic that makes it have a more leathery feel for some reason. I dont specifically remember exactly what bloatware, except the att drive safe app. It was honestly kind of an annoyance. I only had about 4 minutes to bask in its glory lol. But there were a bunch of others, although in much seriousness, anything besides the play store, contacts/phone, messaging, and a calculator are bloat to me. You should never be pushed apps you don't want, just the choice to install ones you do

AT&T puts a ton a BS apps on all their devices that either cost or are just crappy (there is always a better free one out there), 99% of the time you can just disable them in the appliction settings, so it is not that big of a deal. Going through the Note 3 at my local AT&T store, I found these BLOAT apps

AT&T Code Scanner
AT&T DriveMode
AT&T FamilyMap
AT&T Locker
AT&T Navigatror
AT&T Ready2Go
AT&T Smart Wi-Fi
Games (with a W logo and not for Google Play Games?)
Mobile TV
My AT&T
Useage Manager
YPmobile (Yahoo crap)

I'm sure most of us have played with the Note 3 since the demos are up in AT&T corp stores. In case you did not get a chance, here are some pics of the one I played with. Sorry the images suck, I had to be fast before I was asked to stop and was using my old Galaxy S2.

Why the hell do these companies insist on putting Navigator crapware on the phones when Google blows everything away for free? Makes no sense to me. Do people actually use this crud?

No kidding! My TomTom has been collecting dust ever since I bought my note 2 last year simply because Google Maps on a bigger screen is all I need.

Has anyone seen if the Note 3 has the cool Flare effect from the S4 when you swipe to unlock? I have asked elsewhere but no definitive answer. I love that on my friends S4 so just hoping we get it.

They may have them but they won't be selling them in-store until the 4th.

If they have them in store tomorrow I can promise you I'll have one. Perks of a friend working in said store. I'm probably going to sell the ATT version and order a T-Mobile one from Negri if it's confirmed it works on LTE for ATT. Screw a locked boot loader.
