Man I'm hoping it's not just EYE candy . Launchers, Keyboards, and a MAdden game....we can get most of that in the Market NOW.

:p

(I just checked out that link above (Jeffro)....looks like a lot of audio "enhancements" for the DX coming)

Yup, update is downloading here as well right now.

I kept seeing the "...not available at this time" until I turned on wi-fi and rebooted my DX. And even then, I had to hit the update checker about 6x in a row before I finally got the notification that it was available.

Will post more once it has finished installing. It's on the red Droid eye now. Initial impressions are that this update went a bit quicker and smoother than the original Froyo update went a few months ago. It gives a nice "Software update was successful" screen upon completion and reboot.

I had to put back the bloatware for it to install, then it worked and im rocking the update.. yay

Edit: and lost root, but we knew that

I was rooted, got the update OTA and ran the update while rooted, lost root. Ran z4Root and now I am rooted again!

Droid X update!

Just woke up and decided to fire up the X. Check for software update (have been doing so everyday this week) and there was the update. Just finished downloading it so I haven't had a chance to see what the changes are. Im in Chicago. I have Madden Footbal now though!

Initial observations from the update and ~10 minutes of "regular" use:

1. Once things "settled down" after the first boot, everything seems snappier. No more unlock swipe lag or delays when swiping between the homescreens.

2. Startup speed seem a tad faster (and will hopefully improve with time). No noticable difference in shutdown speed, unfortunately.

3. The Madden 11 game requires a big download (much like a Gameloft HD title) that they recommend doing over wi-fi. I just tried it and it would NOT connect to the EA server. Presumably this one hasn't gone live yet. NO idea if it's the full game or a trial version like Need for Speed was.

4. VZW Data Usage widget is small, unobtrusive and actually seems pretty cool if you're not on an unlimited plan

5. Video playback with the stock video player app seems a bit smoother and more stable. Occasionally I would get lockups when starting a larger 720p video. I just tested it with a few big videos I recorded on the DX itself as well as a big wmv video that would occasionally hiccup. Everything performed flawlessly

6. Cannot notice any changes at all with Google Maps

7. Contact list is now unfortunately slower to appear and even more sluggish to scroll through than before. Still no option to sort "last name, first name" like my OG Droid 1 on 2.2. What a bummer-damn Blur!

I was also able to re-root after the update using z4root.

After MANY reboot tests I'm pleased to say my phone is no longer getting stuck on the Motorola logo on reboots. This was one of my main gripes after the 2.2 update. My phone seemed to ALWAYS get stuck on the moto logo and required a battery pull in order to successfully boot.

Just finished the upgrade.

Just wanted to add in that the timestamp for the sms has been FIXED!

new texts goes on top now!

Next problem for me is the custom ringtone randomly changing to silent or stock ringtone. Will test this out as the day goes on tomorrow and will repost. and any other things i notice.

I'm rooted, patched the TBH 3G Mobile hotspot and now I don't have internet at all. Data will not update on my phone either. Looks like Verizon shut off my data or I messed something up.
