Battery Life / Issues Thread

If you disable WIFI, GPS, AutoSync, Brightness and Widgets what is a point of buying a smartphone? Just go back to your old cell phone and stop wisitng money!

..................
  1. Set screen brightness to auto (I would like it a little brighter than auto gives me, but the brightness is adequate).
  2. Bluetooth off unless I am using it (which is rare since I am not in the car often).
  3. Turned off auto-synch (no longer synchs e-mail,facebook.....) I really don't miss hearing e-mail alert every 10 minutes. I check when I want to.
  4. Turn off wifi unless I need it. I turn it on at home so I can stream movies off my media server, faster downloads, Android Remote for iTunes.......
  5. Turned GPS off. I read that GPS is only used when needed, but at least I know now when it is being used because the apps have to ask to turn it on.
  6. Went from a live wallpaper to a dark standard wallpaper.
I did these things Saturday and have had four great days of battery life. My plan is to start turning things back on to see if one of these is the main culprit. From what I have read, I think that will be the auto-synching. Today Bluetooth goes back on all the time. If that is good, I will leave wifi on all the time and see how it goes.
I turned live wallpaper and Bluetooth back on yesterday. Battery life is still great (I'm right there where I use to be on my iPhone4). Today wi-fi is back on all the time.

Friday night at 11:00 battery was at 100%. Saturday morning 10:00 it is at 47%. WTF!!!!
Exchange is set to check messages every hour off peak. Yahoo and separate IMAP account the same.
No live wallpaper, no widgets, no Bluetooth on, no wireless and no GPS. No phone calls.

What am I doing wrong? If I do not find a solution I am going back to the store and returning it. Then going back to my 3GS which looks like a battery superstar in comparison. And that is saying a lot.

First I would suggest to check where the power is going. From homescreen,
Menu BUTTON>settings>applications>battery usage
I am new to android and I was leaving apps running. Much better battery life since..
On par with my old iPhone 4, better than 3gs

Display 20%
Android System 18%
Dialer 15%
Cell Standby 12%
Media Server 12%
Phone Idle 9%
Voice Calls 8%
Android OS 2%
Email 2%
Maps 2%

I think I really do have an issue o.O... I was sleeping, unplugged my phone at 100%.. woke up.. my phone only has 56% battery left.. wtf?
