BATTERY SUCKS AFTER FROYO UPDATE !!!

I tried disabling the always on data in 2.2 now and so far appears to be putting the phone to sleep now.
Now the issue is finding out what new app in this build is trying to go out to the internet all the time causing the phone to stay awake because this fix shouldnt be needed. I didnt need it in 2.1 after the update was ran after the phone was released.

Who in here is still running the .3 "leaked" 2.2 build? Could there be minor differences between the .3 and .6 official build that are causing battery issues?

Send a screenshot. I think you're full of it. With the stock battery there's no way you can get 25 hours.

I want visual proof. Then I want to see your active applications and what you've done to tweak your phone.

Otherwise, it's simply not possible.

Dont make that assumption cuz on 2.1 I was getting 24hrs constantly with pretty decent use and high TWS cuz I work in a freaking bunker.
If I used the phone less I could get into the +1 day range quite easily.
Oh yea and this was with GPS on, High TWS as mentioned, Always on Data turned on, Gmail and FB syncing and weather sync.

Would be nice if people would put in their post which build they were running so we could narrow it down, but I have a feeling its both builds from the sounds of it.

I am running .6 build.

Also, I had several posts about abysmal life yesterday. I ended up doing a hard reset in the afternoon, and initially it did not seem to help, but today I have been unplugged for just over 2 hours and battery is down to 93%. This is a HUGE improvement from yesterday (where I was down to about 33% after 4.5 hours unplugged with minimal usage), I wish I could pin down the problem. PM, thanks for your comments and follow up on this issue. I am not interested in crippling my phone because, as you stated, I got outstanding performance before without crippling it. I will continue to monitor throughout the day. I admittedly have not reinstalled many of the apps that were wiped initially, so maybe I have not reinstalled the app(s) that were causing the issue?

Definitely possible, I consistently got over 20 hours battery life with 2.1. Hard to gauge exactly, because I always put my phone on the charger at night, but after 16 hours and still at 50% was pretty good with me...

Anyone else having issues with the phone charging on USB? The port I use on my work PC doesn't seem to charge it like it did on 2.1, and the AC even takes a lot longer than before.

i had great battery life before the 2.2 update. after the update i'd say i am getting about 50% of what i got with 2.1.

i realize it may take a while for the phone to recalibrate battery usage. i know when i first got my evo it was not as good as it was right before the evo but this is ridiculous. at my current rate of normal usage i am looking about 6-8 hours of battery life whereas before i was getting 12-16.

the update did enable google talk auto-sign in. i turned that off. i use wifi when i can. as for disabling roaming or always on mobile data, i didn't do either of these before the update so i don't feel like i should need to do them now.

i am on my 4th fully charged to discharge cycle and so far it is not getting better. i did notice that my awake time and uptime are the same. i do have led light. after uninstalling it have already noticed that my awake time and uptime are no longer the same. i hope that is it.

i am using the .6 build.

I am in the EXACT same situation as you. I'm on the official OTA update and have noticed a substancial difference in battery life since upgrading yesterday morning. I can't even make it through a workday without the battery getting below 20% and I've barely been using the phone. I'm glad I am not the only one. I also don't feel that I should have to tweak all my phone settings and cripple features that I've grown accustomed to after using them in 2.1. I hope they come up with a fix for this soon. I'll try uninstalling the "LED Light" app too and see if that helps any.

Uggghh. HTC suppport is worse then Sprint.

so I wiped my device for grins and giggles just to see if it helped. I reconfiged the phone and left it alone for a few mins.
went back to play and found out the phone rebooted on its own and wiped out all my screens. Everything is gone from all screens.
Ugggh. I made it worse now i think. lol

I've notice some considerable battery performance issues after the update, just uninstalled LauncherPro and removing Live Wallpapers, etc. to see if I can find out what's going on. After being on a 5 minute call I lost 10% of battery and it's draining fast.. if anyone else has ideas on what might be causing my extreme battery drain let me know... I've pulled my battery and reinstalled and removed Advanced Task Killer trying to find the culprit

I've uninstalled LED light, restarted, and now i am only down 7% in 4 hours. Might be too soon to say but I think this was my problem.

Thanks to whoever mentioned this. I was ready to smash my phone.

see above, it made a huge difference for me.

make sure you reboot. event after i uninstalled it, uptime and awake time were consistent. after i rebooted they were not.

It seems that LED light and the Curvefish Battery Monitor widget was keeping my phone awake. Uninstalled and rebooted, all fine now.

Yesterday I think the LED Light might have been part of my problem as well. I tweaked some sync settings and uninstalled LED Light around the same time.

I have to say today my battery life is doing great with a decent amount of texting, email and browsing. 7 and a half hours and I'm at 78%. Which seems about right for my usage pattern. After 15 hours I'm usually around 50%.

Just uninstalled the LED light app. We'll see if the battery life improves in the future, as well as the charging.

I had the one with the widget, is this the same one everyone else was using?

Wow, since uninstalling the light, the phone has cooled off to the touch and finally started to charge decently again. This does look promising.

I am still getting 20% or so worse battery life with Froyo... I have noticed that even if you use Advanced Task Killer and kill every single App with in seconds all those Apps start opening back up... I can click on ATK and kill every thing and count to 10 and then check again and several are back open again... wait a minute and check again and the Apps are almost all back up and running in the back ground. I rebooted my phone last night before I went to sleep..... After I got up the phone read 7 hours 44 minutes up time and it had 1 hour 9 minutes awake time.....

I have adjusted all my settings and sync settings to what they were on 2.1 and I don't have any or using any different Apps since the upgrade so the phone is waking up way more often than it did when I was on 2.1.... Doing the same test when I had 2.1 my awake time over night was less than 20 minutes with nearly 8 hours of up time.

Also before I updated to 2.2 and used ATK to kill off Apps if I opened ATK again 1/2 hour later no where near as many Apps had reopened again, Maybe 2 or 3... now in seconds 4 - 5 are back up and running....

Seems like Froyo likes keeping more Apps open in the back ground. A lot of it is Sprint BLOAT WARE running in the back ground. NASCAR (no racing going on right now) NFL (Season does not start for another few weeks) Amazon MP3, Voice Mail....... lots of things... Not sure what the cause of it all is....
