BATTERY SUCKS AFTER FROYO UPDATE !!!

i am now 100% positive led light was my problem. i am back to 2.1 battery life. now to see if it gets better.

Improve Battery Life

My battery sucked A$$ after I installed Froyo .6 on my EVO but I must say that since I unchecked the Background Data box (Menu.....Settings......Account and Sync) my battery life has improved a great deal. This should be helpful along with the other great tips in this thread. I've been trying to figure out culprit and I think I found it. 4.5hrs ago i was at 40% and I'm only down 36% with moderate use.

is anyone listening to me here?

i made this post in BOLD earlier, after the 2.2 update, EVERYTHING i meann EVERYTHING is reset to AUTO SYNC, as well as more bloatware and such is running ALL THE TIME, and even when u shut it down it COMES BACK quickly.

you have to be on top of this fast and shut it down, change your sync settings, and your battery life will return to normal, hopefully someone will listen this time.

When you say "shut it down" I hope you don't mean using a task killer... I've changed all sync settings and it still sucks. Apparently the new Facebook update is the culprit

I'm at 17 hours unplugged and only at 56%...all stock, no task killers and on leaked Froyo.......no issues here

+1. Between that and looking into the sync settings that some have mentioned (thought of that first when I was troubleshooting myself), it's come back to much more reasonable levels. I took my ATK off to see how the phone performs without it, and we'll see how a full day removed of the LED light works out for the phone.

scroll up a few posts, it is all in this thread.

basically my battery life with 2.1 was great, as soon as i updated to 2.2 it went berserk. upon reading this thread i found some advice that said to check uptime vs. awake time which for me was the same. i immediately concluded that an application was the culprit and just as the author of the other comment stated, led light was the problem. uninstalled and rebooted the phone now i am back to the same batter life i experienced with 2.1.

Since 2.2 my battery life has decreased a lot, I'm not one to complain about battery life, ever, before this (go ahead, check all my posts), but since this update its been awful.

I did a hard reset on my EVO, installed spare parts and decided to cut the phone off and do a full charge. I cut the phone on leaving the usb cord plugged in so that I can make sure that it read as 100% in the spare parts app. When I unplugged the cable I saw my battery life go from 100% to 90% in 5 minutes and 30 seconds. This did not happen while running 2.1. Hopefully they'll come out with a fix soon or I'll be returning the phone. :-(

Sorry for the stupid question. The LED Light people keep talking about, is that the new flashlight app that came with 2.2?

man HTC service is bad!!! Their people must have never touched an Android phone before that are in tech support. You gotta hear the stuff they are telling me.
I gave up and hardset the phone again yesterday. Seems to be working better now even with Mobile data always on.

I've kinda read through this thread. The most problem I've seen with battery life has been battery life on IDLE TIME.

Juice plotter has been installed for about 2 weeks now - before and now after the Froyo update. If the phone was at almost any % of battery life and I turned the screen off and put it down (for the night, for a long period at work, etc) it would, over the course of HOURS, barely drop but a percentage point or two. There was one night it went 7 hours and only dropped like 2-3 percentage points.

NOW, I see an obvious decline over the course of even an hour or so on idle. Is this just a case of Android re-learning what to put in idle or suspend? It did seem like batter life was better after 2-3 weeks when I got the phone as opposed to right away.

i get this too, 2 hours my phone was idle went form 89% to 69%... never had this problem before 2.2, i used to go all day here at work w/out charging on light usage. Now i keep my cable here just in case.

New FB app is the battery drain culprit for me

My battery drain problem was fixed completely by removing the new update to the facebook app and returning to the old FB app that came baked into the EVO. Just went to
Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Facebook>Uninstall Update

I also removed my FB sync accounts in

Menu>Settings>Accounts & Sync> and removed the FB accounts.

Apparently there is a memory leak problem and hopefully should come back, I hate that I have to gimp my phone just to make the battery last (especially for features i actually use), but for the time being i'm much happier now that my battery lasts a TON longer. My phone actually falls asleep, and my uptime and awake time are back to "normal" levels
