Be honest, is it still worth getting?

I am looking to drop my S4 because being stuck on baseband MF3 with no hopes for 4.3 coming soon annoys me. Is the Nexus 4 still worth the buy? I don't want to spend too much on a device and the 5 is sold out atm. Also, the crooks on cList are posting them for 550+ which is beyond absurd haha.

I'm assuming you're on AT&T because of the MF3 baseband. They're supposed to be updating to 4.3 next week :)
Nexus 5 isn't exactly "sold out," you can still buy one but it will be a few weeks before it gets delivered

Android 4.3 for AT&T's variant of the S4 is scheduled to begin rolling out on November 13.

I definitely wouldn't get the Nexus 4 as a GS4 replacement. Besides, since you have the AT&T version of the GS4, you can easily convert it into a Google Play Edition. The N4 would definitely be a downgrade.

With the Safestrap method? Currently there isn't a Recovery for MF3. At least that's what I understood. I use a different launcher now and such so it is "similar" to a GE.

That doesn't work for the AT&T version. There's still no custom recovery so he can't flash a custom ROM

You can flash the factory Google Play Edition image via Odin. Don't tell me this doesn't work anymore?

Note: flashing via Odin is not like flashing a custom ROM via a custom recovery. Odin is an actual tool used by Samsung techs to restore phones to factory condition.

Nope, it doesn't haha. Since MF3 we that have the S4 and updated it have had a heck of a time flashing.

Stock and rooted. There aren't many ROMs that support MF3 and I haven't yet tried to use the Safestrap method. I do have an offer from a friend of mine that would trade and add cash but I wanna find out how much cash first.

Nexus 4 haha he offered 75 on top. I may do it and just get a 5 in a bit.
So a $200 phone + $75 is worth a $600 phone? Going from an S4 to a N4 would be a huge downgrade. Unless you could get more for it I wouldn't do it since you wouldn't have enough for a N5 even if you sold the 4...

Used S4 in my area goes for 350 tops.

Brand new the Nexus 4 was worth $200 a few weeks ago when it was available, so not sure how much a used one would be worth. I have seen them on eBay for $200+ though
It's a huge downgrade nonetheless :p

I would hold onto the S4.

Nexus 4 is still a great phone, but it's not as good as the S4, plus the N4 is losing value by the day, while your S4 could still be sold used for more or as much as brand new Nexus 5.

As much as I love the N4, it's really not the best buy right now unless you can get one for cheap (and no strings attached). I'm sure there are plenty out there for sale still if you need a phone now, but I think you're better off holding on to your S4 and waiting for the N5. Put in an order now, you'll get it in a couple of weeks. People wait longer for iPhones. :p

I'm looking to get a 2nd N4, when the prices settle down a bit.

Why not wait for a used N5 to go for sale. A lot of people seem to be disappointed with so there should be some for sale in the coming weeks, hopefully for less :)
