BestBuy: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Don't blame you. It should not have taken them this long to figure out they were screwing up.

Ok, so just spoke with a BB rep at the store...they are still trying to figure out details for a pre-release, he has been arguing with a marketing manager on what the point of in store pre-ordering if online gets things earlier.
He will call me when he has something more concrete, but suspects if the conversation continues and a decision is made, he thinks earliest would be Monday... which is what happened with the S7 I guess
 
I just spoke on the phone to a customer service rep at Best Buy. I ordered two Note 8 phones on 9/2 through BB (Verizon), one black, one gray. I received the black one yesterday but gray one still shows "in progress". I called to make sure there wasn't an issue with my order, like some have experienced. The BB rep said my order was fine, it was just the phone had not been "released" yet. When I asked her to elaborate, she stated that the gray color had not been released yet. I explained that some have gotten their gray Notes already so they have been released. She elaborated further and stated that they ran out of the gray stock they had and are waiting on more and that it was the more popular color. We discussed canceling and going with black but she stated that would put me at the bottom of the list. Who knows if any of that is accurate (especially considering they did not seem to be shipping in order of when people placed their orders) I just thought I'd share.
 
Phone finally made it from Ohio to Florida! A 12 hr drive took UPS 31 1/2 hrs lol. Now the final track to me should take 5 hrs, hopefully I see it in less than 15hrs haha.

On a brighter note, it's closer to me 🤣

I just got my notification yesterday for shipping and I ordered on 8/31. it moved to preparing two days or so ago.

Amazing, I pre ordered mine online on 8/23 (technically 8/24 midnight) and I'm still waiting on a shipping notification. How is it that a later order gets shipped first? I ordered a Midnight Black for Verizon. Maybe Carrier & color matters...
 
I am thinking about applying for a Shipping & Logistics Manager at BB lol . Clearly they don't currently know how to prioritize and handle preorder shipping!

I ordered at the same exact time as you. I'm coming from Sprint, and just received shipping info for Wed the 13th. Ridiculous is an understatement, considering others have placed orders within the past two days and have already received their phones. I better not be excluded from the pre-order items!

seems they need a few managers for other areas too. maybe some training. everyone there seems very positive about their answers, but few are correct. and their shipping process sucks completely.

I ordered a Midnight Black for Verizon yesterday about noon from BB online, and it is now out for delivery today via UPS in Seattle. So unfortunately I don't think carrier is an issue. I hate to hear all these horror stories about those who ordered way before I did and are still waiting. What a joke! Sorry to hear that :-( I do however love to see all the Note fans!

Thanks for the update. I guess we will have to wait it out? It is embarrassing how they are handling this though. Everyone else is handing out phones like candy!
 
Very annoying, especially since the only reason I went in store was because their web site couldn't process my order. I had even saved my online order so that it could be finalized in store. Of course they didn't know how to do that, so I had to start over with an in-store order.

Yeah, I'm also in the Seattle area as well. Maybe I should pre order another one...
 
So I pre-ordered two more on two of my other lines so I don't have to cancel and risk a screw up. They stated it would be easy enough to use these phones for my original upgrade order lines if I get the phones over the weekend. I'll see what the tracking info is when I get it and post.
The rep at BB still thinks Monday for in store, but still not 100%. He'll call me if if he gets more information.
Also the conference call wasn't directly related to our issue, but the rep I spoke with was the manager on that call and he did make them aware of the issue...So again not holding my breath..

I also saw others who ordered after me with theirs out for delivery. Bad system.
 
I just called the Best Buy Mobile 877 number posted above. It was explained to me that the timing of when your specific Note 8 ships depends more on your physical location than the date you pre-ordered.

I was told that there are many warehouses across the country and the warehouses ship to the customers as they receive the stock.

By that logic, it appears that the date anyone receives their order is really just luck of the draw...

which still makes zero sense. I'm in WA and they shipped from a warehouse in WI. yet there is stock in CA. I don't believe anything the reps say. their job is to placate. and if that's the case, they should still go out in order of when their order was placed, barring carrier issues.
 
What Best Buy is doing makes absolutely no sense. Why would you punish people for ordering the phone they way you would prefer they order it, for in-store pickup. They want you to come to the store so they can have one last shot at selling Geek Squad, sell a case, selling any accessory. Instead now everyone gets their phones shipped out and the in-store crew is stuck with their phones collecting dust at the store.

I'm in CA and placed order online on 8/29 and it still shows as "In Progress" - so if there is stock here then it's not being shipped to me

You did not read the previous posts, the guy pre ordered his Midnight Black Verizon note 8 yesterday but being delivered today is in Seattle, I am also in the Seattle area (with the same exact order but I ordered it weeks ago)... so that theory went out the window. They are basically not fulfilling earlier orders first. It sounds totally random on which orders they fill which is BS if you ask me.

Yea I agree, that doesn't make any sense for it to ship from WI if you live in WA. I live in Seattle and it looks like mine was shipped overnight from the Tumwater, WA area...there appears to be no system in place, it's astonishing!
