Here's what I've figured out for my setup - Samsung Note 4, Gear S on ATT: With Bluetooth on, WiFi on and Call Forwarding turned on. I'm at home, get out of Bluetooth range, but still within WiFi range, give it about one minutes and I get the message "Connected Remotely". Then after another 2 minutes, I get the message "Gear is not longer connected by Bluetooth. To forward calls, press OK" or some sort of message like that that fills the screen. I press OK, and then after about another minute, I get a message that says "Calls Forwarded". Then I can leave my WiFi network and everything is forwarded to the Gear S correctly. It takes about 4-5 minutes for all this to happen. BUT, if I am away from home, not connected to my WiFi, say I leave the phone in my car, the automatic call forwarding only turns on correctly about 10% of the time. It works much more consistently if they are both connected to the same WiFi network before being separated. I'm still hopeful future updates will smooth all this out.
