Changes to Sprint Premier Program

So will the "Everything Data Family - with Any Mobile, Anytime" plan with 3 lines qualify for gold?

Sorry... does you read?

129.99 + 19.99 extra line = 149.99 still below the requirement. But if you have premium data add ons for each line.....

I am not a Premier Member and I had access to a $75 upgrade option after a year which I used a few days ago(was still using a flip phone on an old $59.99 family plan) BUT I don't get to use the mail in rebate and I called a couple times to be sure, though I will still send it in and see what they do.

Does the new Silver Premier mean you get rebates as well after a year? If not I fail to see the value in it other than accessory discounts since non premier members at 1 year out on their contract get a $75 discount right now unless that is going away with this change.

I think you mean "DID you read?" not "DOES you read?" Sprint has 2 everything data family plans.

I can't seem to find where it tells me how long I've been with Sprint. I know it's prob close to 10 years but would like to know exactly how long... Any Help?

I had to call to find out. Took 10 seconds after actually getting through to a person.

So, to clarify, the premium data $10 charge will go towards the $169 needed on a shared plan for premier status?

So if I have the everything data 1500 minute family plan for $148 ($129.00 +$19 for 3rd line) plus $10 premium data x 3 phones ($30), that would be me at $178, so I am in the clear. Correct?

All of the sudden this is confusing to me... I really like being to upgrade every year. If Sprint takes this away from me, AND charge me an extra $10/mo on my other two phones, I am not going to be a happy camper.

This whole thing smells like iPhone to me...... is it really coming to Sprint?

I agree. . . the more I think about this the confuseder I get. I just emailed customer service to clarify my status . . . Better be Gold!

I'm furious.

If I'm paying for 5GB of 3G data for a family, I should be able to use it however I like. Why does it matter? 5GB is 5GB. Same network load. Now, I accepted the 4G charge because it was a legit expense on Sprint's part and because I pay for unlimited on 4G.

Another problem I've got with it is that the charge appears as soon as I upgrade, even out of contract. Is that even legal?

It doesn't appear unless you sign a new contract or didn't previously have a smartphone.

1. Additional lines and add-on charges do NOT count towards the plan requirement. It's whatever your-base-plan-for-2-lines cost is.

2. It's not the iPhone. According to what I heard today, it is a device, not plan re-structuring or anything like that. It will have a screen size bigger than 4 inches, and it also has a secondary, hinged screen that can flip up from the back of the device, possibly combining with the primary screen, or possibly allowing you to run an app on each screen. Whether it can function as a phone is up in the air.

Now take it as you wish. Obviously there have been no leaks about something like this at all, so I understand if there's skepticism. I'm just repeating what I heard, from a very reliable source. I myself would have never believed it if I hadn't heard it directly from someone at corporate.

Looks like my account was created in 2004 according to the live chat :(. I should be right around gold status though once the $10 fee is added to the 2 other lines.

I'm very confused. If I am paying the extra $10 charge now for the EVO, when I upgrade it will be an additional $10 charge, for total of $20 more?

No. They are just applying the extra $10 to ALL smartphones instead of just the 4G ones. Unless they've majorly revamped the plans by then, you won't have to change your plan at all when you upgrade

Well, sorry but I am one who complained about a 6 month customer getting the same perks as 10+ customers (I am 13+) - So I am happy they listened - Did they go far enough for the long time folks? It makes sense, churn is any carriers enemy so you should reward those that stick with you...6 months ain't a history of sticking nor is 2 years for that matter.

Many industries have figured this out, now if cable and satellite carriers could just figure it out. :)

I've been with Sprint 10+ years too and, from the beginning, I also felt the longtime subscribers should have gotten "better" perks. But I do feel for those that have been dropped to the Silver "non-Premier" Premier status.

They probably realized in hindsight they should have separated the statuses from the start of the SP program, but it's not right to "downgrade" people. Rather, the recent change should have been to just given additional benefits for the 10+ year subscribers.

Looks like I'm not eligible for gold so guess I'm gone. Sprint doesn't have a phone that's worth keeping for 2 years not even the Evo. The moto atrix comes out in march so guess I'm going att.

what irritates me is that i just checked with live chat to see when i had started...they are telling me 06/2005 when i know i started in like 1999/2000.....now tell me how it can be off that far...lol

Thanks for clarifying that, looks like I'm done with Sprint. My phones are going to cost me $20 more per month, and I don't even get early upgrades.... Their pricing really is going to be pretty much right in line with Verizon, but Verizon has better coverage in my area.

I am almost out of contract on 2 of my 3 phones, so this Feb 7th announcement had better be something big, or I will see no reason to stay.

Sprint problem is mostly a PR problem. They just can't keep their stories straight. I personally will stay with Sprint because they are still less than the competition (that gap keeps closing though) for what I need.

They said the $10 Evo fee was a hardware charge due to the 1ghz processor and enormous data that phone would consume,....

Now they say ALL smartphones consume excess data which is why they need to charge the extra fee. Did they not realize this last year? They just realized a hero consumes a lot of data? Enough to warrant the same charge as an Evo/Epic?
