I change more settings then most because I'm anal, and also know it will turn out better for me if I do so. leaving your white balance on auto will be fine too in my examples. your flash will go off if indoors, wont go off if outdoors. you will still have to change your ISO on a SGS2 in ultra low light or you'll get the same results as an evo3d, good to poor depending on your subject and your skills.
so on a SGS2 phone it will know that my subject is being back lit by the sun and she wont turn out dark? I won't have to change the exposure setting to +1 on the SGS2? really? the phone just "knows" that she is being back lit? cool, I'm running out and getting one now....yeah, right.
I should chill out when I'm giving out some damn good advice on how to take better pictures on any camera phone? really? I should chill?
I'm not looking down anyone's nose who is at least willing to understand that with any camera you need to understand the basics of photography. the more you know and understand the less you'll stop blaming a camera and look in the mirror.
we might dissagree on some things but I still think you are a great person. so here is some thanks and likes from me.![]()
I have both phones. I got the Epic touch for the camera alone. I wanted the 3D camera to be good so badly but it is not to be. I tried everything, got one or two ok shots and more bad ones than good ones after trying every setting imaginable. My kids first day of school is ruined as I trusted that the 3D would do the job...not... I can tell you that I don't even know how to get to the setting for the Epic touch (don't need to know) and I was the first in my Corporate store to get it on launch day. A low light pic on the galaxy touch looks better than the best ideally lit pic on the 3D after fumbling with settings. It is a night and day difference.
I don't understand. You kept your EVO 3D but got an Epic Touch for the camera alone. If better quality pictures than those you take on the EVO 3D are that important to you, even for the 200 dollars you would pay for an upgrade you could get a much better quality digital camera than any in a cell phone.
I like your style!!![]()

I hope no one misinterprets my question. I'm really not trying to be rude. We got a very nice 8 mp digital camera at Electronic Express for a little more than 100 dollars. I rarely use it though, which bugs my husband to no end. Not that he gets mad, but he wonders why we even bothered to buy it because I am the picture nut and I rarely use it. I am truly curious as to why someone wouldn't just get a good digital camera instead.
Fwiw, I don't use our Flip camcorder either!![]()
I'm only posting this picture because of the questions of the shutter speed by some. While the picture is a bit washed out, it did a great job capturing the fast motion as this kid was midair after jumping off of a diving board. The settings were all set to automatic FYI.
X-POST from "what is the biggest issue for you with the EVO3D"
UPDATE: CAMERA. Just got back from Mexico, Compared side by side with my 2 year old Canon A570 and while I understand that one's a camera and a phone, The 3D's photos are noisy as hell and almost unsharable. This is after using the tweaks from various camera threads. Even for a cellphone camera it's bad. And Even if it's the settings, this is still not acceptable performance.
I don't think the picture below is good, or even acceptable performance for a phone of this level. I also adjusted the settings several times.
Vick,
quick questions...what ISO was that shot at? what was the white balance set at?
could you also give me a better understanding of just where this was shot at, like was it full outside or was it only partly outside such as under a shade?
Very bright day. iso was about 100. White balance was set to auto. I found some success with this setting in some situations, but poor in others. Sat was neg 1.
Hey Vic I found your next phone!! The Panasonic Lumix Phone 101P Might Not Suck at Being a Camera or a Phone
Maybe mine also.![]()
