Re: switching to ATT from Verizon after the end of contract

Thanks for the long reply keep them coming. So you are sying u like atnt. If i was on my own plan i think i would try t mobile as i like the no caps plans they hve. Also i think u are saying that it verys based on location. I called atnt and was told they are the best and vz says same thing.

Well they would ....you wouldn't want AT&T to say sprint it better or etc

re: Do you get good Service ?

I guess it depends on where you live. I live in San Diego (North County) and T-Mobile service is pretty decent. I only lose signal when inside a big building like a supermarket (and waaaay in the back of the building) or our labs in my company, but Verizon (my work phone) is not much better, only a few feet more with decent coverage, then it drops, too.

As far as dropped calls, never had an issue unless I'm moving. There are areas that seem to struggle with tower switchover, but that's about it.

Here, pretty good. In some places there just is none. We need to know both the carrier AND the location to give you an answer that comes close to having any meaning. Then you have to do local checks. If they cover your entire city, but your house is a dead spot, you don't care that they cover the entire city - your phone is useless to you at home.

Because different places have different coverage by different carriers. When I lived in New York, I couldn't find a weak signal with my Sprint phone - it was like the tower came along wherever I went. When I moved to North Carolina, my house had a usable signal, not strong, but that wouldn't have made me change carriers because their coverage in the city is pretty good - buy my daughter's entire house was one huge dead spot, so the phone was pretty useless yo me if I was at my daughter's and my wife wanted to reach me. (We're a cellular-only family.)

If you just ask "how is this carrier", all 4 are good. If you ask "how is this carrier in this part of this city", you'll get a starting point. (Good doesn't mean "good in the spots you need coverage", it means good in that part of town, but there could still be a dead spot where you need coverage". "They don't cover this part of town" tells you to forget that carrier. AT&T gives me great coverage wherever I go, but there's a whole part of this city that they have zero coverage in - a part of town I'll never be in, so I don't care.)

Check Sensorly.com for signal in your area if you're considering them.
I live in Los Angeles and get LTE pretty much everywhere.

it depends on your location. personally i'd choose T-Mob over Boost. you could buy an unlocked phone (Nexus 5, 6, Moto X, G) and test out their network via prepaid for a month or two and try it. if you don't like it you can easily switch to Straight Talk (AT&T SIM) or AT&T GoPhone or another prepaid option. that's the beauty of an unlocked phone and prepaid carrier - great prices and no contract.

good luck.

Re: better or worse than t mobile

Thank you, I am happy with Verizon for now but may look into other options. I also think that Verizon phones are unlocked already from the factory. Is there a way to check to see if my galaxy s3 is locked or unlocked. Thank you

Device Unlocking Policy | Verizon Wireless

i'd call VZW and check.

i always buy Nexus phones direct from Google and walk in AT&T Corporate Store and get a GoPhone SIM. love it.

good luck.

Uh...no. It gotta be locked. There a few things that are locked up tighter than a Verizon phone.

re: Service question

It all depends on your area.
Try each one and see which one is best.
Both should give you a "test drive" to check the network.
Just my $.02

re: Service question

Do u have to give your credit card information when you do a test drive program. How does that work?
