ARCHIVED: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2011)

I don't get why everyone is complaining about every little glitch with drew's rom. If you didn't want issues stay with the stock rom. We wouldn't even have this available if it wasn't for drew, blarf, and ath3nos. I have a few issues but nothing to go complaining about. These roms are great and I'm glad someone out there is smarter than me.

Yesterday I got 16 hours with 30% left and that included flashing the new build, always on tapatalk, emails, twitter, Facebook (all update every 15-30 minutes) wifi on the entire time, GPS with weather updating, news on pulse, calls, you name it. Today ill have a better idea of battery after running it constant and still doing all the above mentioned.

good build though your smart ass government causes the audio in Pandora to glitch when the screen is off.

This has nothing to do with Drew's work. All CM builds and kernels for CM that I am aware of have this issue when running smartass. At least it does on the Hero, Evo, Evo Shift, etc.

Yeah, I had the same problem with UberMusic. I just switched back to interactive to fix it.

Anyway, does anyone know if a pair of headphones with in-built mic will work on this ROM? I'm just asking since I've heard all about troubles with headsets and earbuds and such (and I've had the infamous "can't talk with headphones plugged in" problem).

It isn't so much complaining as it is to let the devs know of bugs. We all just assume drew and Co want to know of our issues. Yes there are small petty bug reported but they are issues none the less.

Keep up the good work drew and blarf. We so appreciate it!

You Forgot about Zefie. Scott Pilgrim is the original CM7 port for the optimus s. I could be wrong but all these other builds are because S.P. was discontinued yet so many of us optimus s owners use it so other devs decided to add to it which I think is cool. However I used this rom for one day and switched but I still look at the thread to see if anyone had/has my battery issue and I agree, you guys are doing a lot of complaining when drew has said everywhere this is a work in progress. #2 he's taking his time to give you guys a new rom to play with. Also theres a way to report bugs. You don't like the kool-aid? Don't drink it

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/02/2011 | experimental: 08/01/2

An earlier update on what I said earlier...

...I tried rebinding the voice key to voice search, but it apparently doesn't work. This is a CM7 issue, right? That it doesn't support an integrated voice search feature, or something?

Additionally, can anyone else test their headphones with a built-in headset switch that answers the phone and turns off music? I know the phone is reading the headset key, but there's no response on this ROM for me when it apparently works on my brother's phone. Also, the other buttons (volume buttons?) are not being read, but this might be an android issue.

I'm a newbie to this stuff so if I said anything idiotic, that is why. I just flashed to this ROM from an old version of the Scott Pilgrim Awesomeness one and I'm very pleased so far, especially with the discovery of my bluetooth headset does in fact work :D

Well, I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to find out if my issues are unique to me (for whatever reason) or if they're something with the ROM, in which case it's out of my hands.

Your post was put up 3 minutes after mines. How could I possibly have been referring to you when your post didn't exist yet. Check the times. I hope I don't offend anyone, as I said Im not even currently running this rom. But because of all the activity I'm sure there's a lot of new flashers and I think some are not reading the entire thread thoroughly before flashing. There's a PROPER way to report bugs. I hope you guys enjoy the hell out of this rom. But remember a lot of complaining does no good. Drew can only work on so much at a time. Again, no offense intended to anyone.

I know, but your post could have applied to me regardless.

The thing is, I don't know if my bug is exclusive to me (something I did) or something with CM7 and finding information on this is hard. I'll be glad to file a bug report once I know if what I'm experiencing isn't either known, intentional, or the result of something I inadvertently did.

What exactly do you consider complaining anyway? Asking/saying that X doesn't work is still helpful in general as it may simply be a setting that needs to be fixed (in which case reporting it as a bug would've simply wasted time) and and it helps gather information for a filing a bug (e.g., multiple people experiencing it may help narrow down a common cause.)

I also didn't see any requests on not reporting possible bugs in this topic, anyway. Isn't that what this topics are normally for--discussing the ROM, potential issues and bugs, to better perfect it?

Anyone know how to stop the 2 voicemail notification everytime time you turn phone on?
Love the Rom Great work guys!

I am going to have to get use to the fact I can not turn phone off when charging.

I don't know how many ways I can say I wasn't talking to you specifically bud. What you posted was like you said trying to see if your problem is common which is understandable WHICH further shows I wasn't referencing you besides the fact that your post was AFTER mines. As for your bug reporting question I hate to say it but you're proving my point on people not reading the thread in its entirety. Below I've pasted Drew's own words from page one of this thread in which he clearly instructs people what to do to report a bug. Since you couldn't see it I reposted it. The sentence starts with "when reporting an issue". So if a person doesnt follow those instructions theyre just complaining. I've said it 2x and ill say it again I'm not trying to offend you friend, I'm not a moderator and its not my job to police the forum. In fact, ignore what I said. Just have fun with the rom and thank your developer

What this thread is:
A place for you (the forum member) to see what I've been hacking around with in the InferiorHumanOrgans (blarf) CyanogenMod 7.1 repository. I may post CyanogenMod builds, links to patches, or even questions that I would like to have answered.

Notes:
The CyanogenMod builds I post should be considered experimental. Usually the builds that I do post will have been tested, but if I feel that a certain build could cause issues beyond the normal bugs I will place an appropriate warning. If you need a more stable build, please use the ROMs released by Ath3nos.

When reporting an issue:
1) Please post the Build ID of the build you are reporting the issue about.
2) Please refrain from reporting an issue that has been reported previously. All reported issues will be listed in the Reported Issues post.
3) Please give as much information as possible. Simply saying "xxx doesn't work" or "xxx failed" doesn't help me fix anything.

Table of Contents:
1) Intro (this post)
2) ROM Builds
3) Reported Issues
4) Changelogs
5) Issues I'm Having

I have the same error, except I'm getting 1 voicemail notification. This isn't exclusive to this particular ROM, as I had this error on the Scott Pilgrim ROM as well. I'm not sure what is causing it, but I think it's something more server-side on Sprint's end. I bet if you switched to another ROM you'll get the same error.

edit: Also using Google Voice, but I'm not sure how related that is.

also,

1) Please post the Build ID of the build you are reporting the issue about.
2) Please refrain from reporting an issue that has been reported previously. All reported issues will be listed in the Reported Issues post.
3) Please give as much information as possible. Simply saying "xxx doesn't work" or "xxx failed" doesn't help me fix anything.

is about what most people are doing, with the possibility of not reporting which build, but it's usually implied that it's the latest one I don't see this "complaining" you're talking about, and I really don't know what your problem is.

no voicemail notification errors here (using google voice as vm)

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread

Hmm I don't know what I must be doing wrong. I followed the same steps. If I compose a message to myself I can listen to it. Anything else gives me an error message upon playback.

I'm having the same issue. I removed voicemail and used that Method 2 in order to reinstall VVM and anytime I open a voicemail from a number other than myself I get an error. On top of that I now get annoying texts from that 9016 number. Is there any way to stop the texts other than blocking that number with an SMS or blacklist app?

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/02/2011 | experimental: 08/01/2

Wow, great job on the rom! I saw the new stable version and decided to switch. I ALMOST flashed this rom to try it, but I was waiting to see what was going to be in the next build you were releasing. When you say stable, your right, this build is fast, sleek, feature rich, and fully integrated into this phone. Absolutely amazing!

As for the people above, have you considered google voicemail? It is basically the same as visual voicemail but it also transcribes your message, AND sprint fully integrates with google. All you need is to setup a google voice account(DONT integrate your google phone number with sprint, choose a different one, it doesnt matter too much what the number is as you dont need to use it), setup your mobile number as your default google voice phone, down load the google voice app from market, and go to setting in google voice(website) and activate voicemail. It is actually simpler than it sounds.

I don't think your understanding. Come out of your shell of ignorance and think. Can he see into the future and reference a post that wasn't there yet?. Have a fantastic day ^_^

All this bickering is not helping anyone. Please refrain from bashing each other and try to stay on topic of this thread.
