Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/02/2011 | experimental: 08/03/2

This ROM is awesome! Great job on it so far! :D Very clean interface, and seems very stable too, not too bad for the first stable version. Can't wait for the next versions.

Thanks!

I have a question? The 3G and signal bars are usually green, but every now and then they are white. Why is this?
I have some ideas but want know for sure.

sent from my CM7 gingerbread Optimus S

They are green when you are synced up to Google, white if you aren't.

Never mind figured it out there's an update theme server button In the settings. Rock!

Umm...I've never used CyanogenMod on a supported platform (with the exception of installing CM6 on my friends HTC Hero) and I have no idea where to start looking for theme servers to place in the 'Manage Theme Servers' section of the 'Theme Update Settings' portion of the CM Updater settings. I don't want to install a theme that will break my phone by accident ^_^

i'm having problem when powering off the phone to charge it and as soon as i connect the power plug the phone boots up to the home screen instead of the charging battery screen

That's a "feature" of CM7, not a bug. This has been discussed quite a few times already. I may remove that "feature" in the future but it's not very high on my priority list.

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/02/2011 | experimental: 08/03/2

I've noticed an issue which, now that I think about it, has plagued me from Scott Pilgrim, through the Ath3nos CM7 ROM, to Drew's excellent CM7 ROM. My contact assigned ringtones don't work consistently. I noticed last night when I was surprised by the fact that someone's assigned ring worked twice in a row. Since I've had this problem on all three AndroidCentral Optimus S CM7 ROM's I'm going to hazard a guess that it's a CM issue and I'll check their bug-tracker. I just wanted to get the word out there I guess ^_^

Honestly I share your sentiment. The only thing that even came up for me in the theme updater was a font pack and a launcher. I believe I saw a theme thread around here for the cm7 roms. For now it would probably be best to stick to those.

Food for Thought...

I am not sure if this is native Gingerbread functionality or CM functionality, but there is the ability to select and/or create Profiles, which lets you set audio levels for various applications, including but not limited to your phone's ringtone. I was wondering, in a developer's perspective can this component be easily customized. What if you can set Bluetooth, WiFi, Data Sync, 3G, Airplane Mode, Brightness to a Profile. You know the same things you can set on the power widget.

This is how I would use it...
  1. I am at home, I have wifi, I can set my Home Profile to turn on WiFi to help conserve battery instead of using 3g.
  2. I am at home, its nighttime and I ready for bed. I switch to my Sleep Profile which turns on Airplane mode to help conserve a whole lot of battery.
  3. I am driving to work, I switch to my Commute Profile which turns on Bluetooth, sets media volume to high and sets my brightness to full
  4. I am at work, I switch to my Work Profile which turns on WiFi and sets ringer volume to vibrate

Alright, you get my point. I think this would add a great deal of customization on functionality that already exists. Not to mention, I would probably use Profiles a whole lot more. Let me rephrase that, I would probably start using Profiles.

Is this even be possible? Any thoughts?

Would this type of request go to the CM team to have it part of their base package or would be up to Drew to incorporate it in his ROM.

Don't know if it's possible and who to ask for it....but I know there are quite a few automation apps out there that can do exactly what you want. The most powerful, and hence most confusing, is Tasker. Tasker is widely hailed as an incredible app, if you are willing to learn how to use the damn thing.

for #1 you can use Juice Defender Ultimate. I use Wifi at home and when im outside 3G. Juice Defender Ultimate knows the range of your Wifi and turns it off(and turn it on when in range) automatically when it is out of range and turns on 3G.

How come you don't just use the "theme Chooser" app. It wont brick you

Ikandee theme for cm7 is awesome

Screen rotate lag

Is anyone else experiencing a lag in screen auto-rotation (or orientation, to cover possible keywords)? I've got a 3-5 lag or pause after I rotate the phone, before the phone rotates the display.

I remember this being an issue that popped up with various builds of CM6 on my Hero. And Google searches seem to indicate it happens here and there with other devices too. One fix for the Hero was disabling 270 (or maybe it was 180) degree rotation. I've disabled both --leaving only 0 and 90 degree rotations checked-- with no improvement.

Other than this, the ROM seems very stable. Perhaps a little rougher around the edges than Reborn - but that's been my experience with CM6 and CM7 in general. (I did have to switch to Interactive Gov to clean up some screen-off skipping while playing Slacker Radio)

Is anyone else having a problem where the rom is stable until the first reboot, and then begins to reboot every few minutes? This has happened to me after multiple clean flashes and at different processor speeds.

Running:
  • Latest stable build
  • Data2ext
  • Governor set at 245/787 Smartass, later set to 245/600 Smartass

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the built in theme chooser only has three themes unless you go find other theme .apk's which, after installation, appear in the theme chooser.

I'm under the impression that the theme updater present in the CM Updater program would, given an appropriate URL, present you with a list of themes to choose for download to your device. For use in the theme chooser.

After typing that however, and thinking about what I read about the CM Updater program, I think that I may be mistaken. Will someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/02/2011 | experimental: 08/03/2

Sorry bud, thought you were looking for themes. If that's the case you can find them here, xda developers page or on the market. If your talking about the CM updater, that notifies users when a new ROM is released; it then downloads the “update.zip” file over the air and makes it easy to apply. I could be wrong and if I am I apologize

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/02/2011 | experimental: 08/03/2

There is a ROM updater AND a Theme updater! I didn't see the theme I'm using (mixer) so, I left it alone.
