Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread

I would highly recommend wiping everything before flashing another rom over your current one.

Doesn't hurt going from cm7 to cm7 or from reborn to reborn. However I am a big fan of the "wipe everything before flashing new rom" too... All depends who you talk to. Everyone will have a different argument as to why or why not.

Didn't mean to get off topic! Proceed with thread.

Nice job once again with this rom drew. Running all night. Shouldn't have expected anything less!

I must say that ath3nos rom was fast, but this seems faster. I ran quadrant 20 times and my average score was 1275 with a high of 1350 and a low of 1160. I'm also running chainfire 3D. I'm sticking with this one for a while.

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread

Over in the thread for ath3nos' CM7 build, I had asked how to stop the phantom voicemail alert and Drew responded with this:

Go to Settings->Call Settings and uncheck Voicemail notifications. Then follow the directions from here using Method II (2) and you'll have Sprint VVM (Visual Voicemail) back and running.

You will begin to get texts from the number 9016 after doing this, simply disable notifications from the stock messaging app, and install a third-party messaging app such as Handcent and add the number 9016 to the blacklist.

I used the same process to get my VVM working on his cm7 ROM, and I've got it working just fine. :-)

I ran quadrant last night and this morning and couldn't crack 1000. Maybe its after app install that things slow down a bit but I have my phone OC'd to 800 so I was kinda hoping to hit 1000.

Quadrant is a very flawed benchmarking tool, especially because results can be faked by enabling stagefright. Just because your scores are different from the next guy (or previous guy) doesn't mean your actual performance is any better or worse. It's just numbers.

In my opinion, the best benchmark is the subjective benchmark. It's all about how it feels to you, the user.

I completely agree with you Drew...

But there's still a little thrill in seeing those high numbers. LOL

This morning, before I took my phone off the charger, I ran Quadrant a few times and got scores of over 1200. I enjoyed it. LOL :-P

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread

I'm getting benchmark results around 1,000, but unacceptably slow upload and download speeds. Any thoughts?

Generally, upload/download speeds are carrier-dependent. My speeds are within normal parameters, you could be experiencing network congestion.

ALSO: I can confirm that voicemail messages do not get received. I honestly have no clue, other than that Visual Voicemail has never had much support in any CyanogenMod ROM. The best workaround in my opinion is to use Google Voice. It's free, and your messages can get transcribed (also free).

Will you be working on using the mic while headphones are plugged in? I like my calls directly in my ear =P

Don't know if anyone has asked but how do I stop getting my text through Google voice

I think you have to check something in settings about do not use Google voice for phone calls.

You have to go to the Google Voice Settings on your computer, and there will be a checkbox saying "Send texts to my mobile phone". Then you can uncheck that.

Hmm I don't know what I must be doing wrong. I followed the same steps. If I compose a message to myself I can listen to it. Anything else gives me an error message upon playback.

I went back to Reborn and then back to your CM7 build. Upload/download speeds are 4x faster on Reborn. Must be something specific to my phone--very strange.
