PS PS - if you guys downloaded this directly from the web onto your SD card, use Astro to verify the file extension says .zip.

Also, there is no folder called "root". When we say put it in the root folder we mean just put it at the top, not inside some other folder on the card.

There IS a root folder on the device memory, that's why this gets confusing.
I moved the file to the sdcard folder which I assume is the sd card, but haven't gone beyond.

The name of the file I have is OTA_Supersonic_3.26.651.3-1.47.651.1_releaseu2cqjc2e98n4o6xn - approx 84.46 MB
I don't see a .zip extension.

After much avail...let me break it down.

1. Load ROM onto main directory of SD Card
2. Rename file to update.zip
3. Turn off phone by holding Power
4. Hold volume up + Power until bootloader screen comes up
5. Select bootloader
6. Select recovery
7. At red exclamation screen, hold volume up + power again for a few seconds until blue text comes up
8. Select update from SD card

I got the same thing...... I renamed the file update.zip and put on the SD card and when I went to run it it tells me it can't find update.zip.... plugged the phone back up to the computer and it's there update.zip... removed and reinstalled but it's still telling me it can't find that file and aborts installation????

Please be aware any update.zip floating around for EVO are not final and may cause problems. Official updates are coming OTA next week!

Hi guys, long time listener, first time caller...

So i'm trying to install the update, following the instructions in this thread. However, when it's time to "apply sdcard:update.zip" it says "E: signature verification failed Installation aborted."

Update:

Success. Froyo installed! Only thing to add to my previous instructions are to select reboot on the menu when it tells you to and then let it do it's thing.

Also, the flashlight app is there, the quick picker or whatever it is called has 8 most recent apps instead of 6, the speed is a lot faster in the browser, there is the app trader app, Facebook syncs events to calendar, and a few other things.
