[Forum Game] New Thunderbolt goodie? UPDATE: One of us is right!

Correct me if I am wrong...but I am fairly certain HTC has paid VZW to have the first released phone on the 4g network.

I want it...but I have to say that if I am still phone shopping in June...it wont be in Verizon's store....I know, I know....I am just being a baby...but all this reading is driving me nuts...

To get back on topic with this thread, my new guesses for the day are;
1. Sense 2.2/2.5 (zomg) with the cloud gaming and movie stuffs.
2. Droid branding
3. A backpack sized battery
4. A dock of some kind (meh, kickstand)
5. Free HTC Flyer
6. Quad Core
7. Released 3.31.11
8. That rubber nub pulls out and you can insert something cool (I know where your dirty little minds are going to go with this...)

How is it several steps ahead of the competition?

Apple don't announce their devices 3 months in advance, without a price or firm release date. They also don't miss release dates.

They announce their devices by saying, "This is what we're doing, here is the day-and-date when it's going on sale, and this is how much it will cost." And then they make that happen. Contrast that with the Thunderbolt release.

And, even though they waited until now to announce the iPad2, it's still cutting edge, no? To me, that's how they're a few steps ahead of the competition. To use a poker reference, HTC, HP, RIM, and MOTO will scratch & fight for the blinds, but Apple will slow-play the nuts, because they know what wins--taking home the big pots.

No, launch-wise they are two separate days. In terms of delaying the Thunderbolt? Its had more than it's fair share of delays; This beast is ready to go!

So one could say the 10th is still very much on the table?

It also seems unreal how much force Apple has on Verizon considering they've been in actual business for less than a month now. HTC has been with Verizon for a much longer time, and it feels like VZW isn't giving HTC nearly enough credit and it busy polishing the fruit emperor's shoes.

i am thinking release announcement on the 3rd and actual release on the 10th. most reasonable answer right now.

VZW realizes how big they are...lol it's like Walmart, companies hate them, but bend over backwards for them.

I think Netflix

Yup... Apple recognizes that people have short attention spans. They want people excited when they roll this thing out on the 11th. If they waited 3 months, everyone would have been like "What is this have on it?". In a week, they'll still be riding the press wave.

Everyone in consumer electronics needs to take a look at how Apple releases a product and do it that way.

The whole mantra of "tease it" then say nothing about it and being vague doesn't excite people anymore. In this day and age, people want information yesterday. All companies like VZW are doing are frustrating it's most plugged in customers.

Okay. I'll play the game.

Announcement tomorrow from VZW.
Release March 17th.
$249 with 2-year contract.
BB pre-orders get it a day early and/or get a gift card toward an accessory (bigger/extra battery).
Dual-core... no. It's a Snapdragon.
Gingerbread, maybe in a month or so. 2.2 as-shipped.
HTC Sense, who cares, but sure, 2.x.
OnLive, ugh, but why not, cross-marketing is VZW's thing.

but honestly, we all know things change, and that's fine, but don't be so certain...especially with this phone

It's not up to me to decide when the announcement is. Just remember the Droid 2 announcement was TWO days before launch.

On that, though, the Thunderbolt is a much bigger deal than the Droid 2. I feel like it would be prudent for Verizon to announce their beast earlier than 2 days to get a hype train up and running again to bolster sales and (hopefully) improve the spirits of a few desperate nerds on the 60th page of a forum thread.

Again, that would be prudent of VZW. They rarely mix.

VZW already has the hype train going. They have commercials and all the free press from us pissed off forum guys

You said in another thread, on Monday, when asked if the phone would be announced within 3 days, absolutely...

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

consider yourself held to it!

now now, lol

it could very well be tomorrow finally, the past two days Verizon has been in social PR mode, they first posted on Facebook yesterday, then today they posted on Twitter for some patience regarding the ThunderBolt

at this rate, we'll have an announcement next lol :D

AND there's that TWO again :D

TWO days, but if they said yesterday within the next 3 days, that would mean the 3rd or 4th (like we originally thought last leak before it was bumped to the 10th

Man, I don't know. I get what what you're saying but when was the Thunderbolt announced? Not release date but when it was named Thunderbolt from the Mecca, HD2 or whatever it was.

Just look at the frenzy in the Thunderbolt forums :)

Granted, most everyone is this forum is techie junkies wanting the latest and greatest...

But for the average user, yeah I agree with you.
