From OnLeaks, Get Excited

HTC One A9: Everything we know about HTC's next hero phone - Pocket-lint

OK, so here are the latest rumors for Android phablet.

Nexus 6x gonna bring weak sauce with 5.5 inch. Screen, 810 processor and 3500 mAh battery

And it may end up not even launching in October.

The htc a9 gonna bring the heat this year with a deca core processor, 6 inch screen and 3500 mAh battery and a much more advanced camera than the nexus.

Htc o2 them upping the game even more with 6 inch option, 820 processor and water proof

Finally don't z5 ultra may be coming with the return of the Mac daddy of screens, 6.44 inch 4k, 820 processor and 4 gb ram with 4000 mAh battery and water proofing

Oh and lest I forget there is rumored LG g4 pro with 5.8 inch screen, removable 3500 mAh battery and SD card plus it is pushing a styles to take on the note

Nexus 6x, I'd it does end up launching in April or may with a pointless duel edge screen that is laughably small, and it's 3gb of ram, and sd810 processor, well, just don't even bother Google because it will be an embarrassment especially if you end up charging $650/$700 for the 32/64 gb options.

Things powwow have asked for on a nexus phablet and would likely be willing to pay a premium for:

SD card and more storage
Removable battery
Water proofing

Things no one had ever asked for and almost surely would be pointless to charge extra for: gimmicky dual edge screen especially one that isn't big enough to call a phablet

Going up against the potential field that is rumored huawei and Google are gonna be laughed out of the store.

Google won't care because it owns the future and had more money than god.

Huawei? Well this might set back is efforts to break into the American market by at least a couple of years.

Anyway, I'm feeling better about the future of phablet and tablones

My order of excitement

Z5 ultra: 6.44 inch screen he'll to the yes

LG g4 pro: zero lemon gonna make a 10500 mAh battery case that gonna give Miller battery life

HTC o2, 6 inch screen is the new standard for phablet, as is duel front facing speakers and I'd love to try boomsound 4.0

Htc a9

I definitely wouldn't mind the 5.5" display and I'd sign in the dotted line right now for 3500 mAh. The 810 is a turnoff but I'd get it anyway. The other phones you mentioned sound awesome, and if that HTC rumor is true, I along with everyone else on AC will have one. But stock is at the top of my list, and in like the quick updates, which only Nexus has.

Either way, hopefully 2016 is better than 2015.

Of course it will be. Every year is better than the last. That's just how technology progresses. The constant advancement shows no sign of relenting yet.

Again. Those are rumors. Not fact. Stop bashing companies and posting long winded rants over rumors. The fact that you are even believing the 5.5 bull**** and delay into next year for edge screens makes me think you have no idea who the credible sources for rumors/leaks are.

Well said!!!

Honestly I wouldn't mind 5.5...and I wouldn't mind a delay if it meant getting a Snapdragon 820.

agreed ... though I put 0 credibility into that website.

it's fun to follow rumors and all, but unless it comes from a reputable source I don't pay much attention. even the OnLeaks and Evleaks of the world get it wrong every now and then!

I can't agree more.

We still can be very surprised... in a good or a bad way...

What is the threshold of specs at which the real world performance becomes indistinguishable? I remember I was a little disappointed when I first received my Nexus 5. My Nexus 4 with its S4 Pro was just as snappy as the new 800 found in my Nexus 5. I'm sure the difference would become apparent when it came to playing games, but for day-to-day tasks the difference was negligible.

The 820 in theory will be more powerful than the 810, but how much of a difference will you actually notice?

TL;DR - 810 isn't weaksauce

I like to add to that. Do you even know why Google makes Nexus devices?

Can anyone answer that question?

A lot you have this idea Google with the nexus line are trying to compete and I am wondering where you ladies and gentlemen are getting that idea?

Google has made it clear a couple years ago what Nexus devices are for. They have actually answered question on a occasions now and by Eric Schmidt, Hugo Barra, Matias Duarte and Andy Rubin.

I'd say probably 95% of us on here know why Nexus phones exist.

I do think there's a possibility of them going mainstream because of Fi though.

Sounds about right... except I'd have to say a very good percentage of those that buy a Nexus don't use them for for the purpose they were created for. A number of people I know that own Nexus devices are not developers... at least Android developers.

Personally, I will buy one because of the Pure Android experience, and the ability to get the latest updates quickly. In the past I have rooted a couple of my early devices and put a Cyanogen ROM onto my device. This is one of the reasons I purchased the Moto X 2014 Pure Edition, I wanted a pure Android experience. If the Nexus 6 would have been a smaller screen, I might have purchased a Nexus last year.

Thinking that Google has the possibility to go mainstream. Google could go mainstream if they wanted to. My issue are people ranting a bashing Google as if they are going mainstream.

What are Google's Nexus devices for if not to be purchased by large numbers of consumers?
Google's take on that issue has been consistent: they're "halo" devices meant to educate the rest of the ecosystem. Burke put it to us this way: "Basically what Nexus allows us to do is set the standard ... [we can] demonstrate how Android runs and hopefully influence other device manufacturers to take what we've done and do even better.

That brings us to the other — and more important — reason the Nexus line exists: Google simply needs hardware on which it can develop Android. Burke says "as an engineering team creating a mobile platform — we can't do that in the abstract. We need to do it on a real device that we're carrying with us." When people ask me about the Nexus line, I like to joke that if you need to create a few hundred polished and usable devices for Google engineers, why not make a few hundred thousand more and sell them to hardcore users?

Article by The Verge quote from Android Engineering VIP Dave Burke

Google has made it pretty clear what Nexus Line is for but people still complain. Why are they not doing what I want? They could do so much better? I give up on Google?

Well I have added another rant into fire but at least mine has some creditability.

This will be the first Nexus phone that I buy when I get the LG Nexus this year. I have always watched and kept track of the Nexus line, but, have never went all in with one because they have never really been very Verizon friendly. I'm hoping this year it will be an experience like the Moto X pure edition where I can just pop my sim into the LG Nexus and it will work on Verizon. But, to me, the reason to get a Nexus phone for the "average" consumer, like I am, is because you want to experience Android the way Google intended Android to be and you want the fastest OS updates for the longest period of time on your phone. I am just a regular Joe phone user, not a developer or any type of extreme tech head that roots and roms and flashes.. But, I am tired of Verizon shackling the update cycle to phones and I like the smaller form factor of a 5 inch or so phone. So, hopefully, I will be LG Nexus bound when it comes out in a month or so.

I think most of the concern for the 810 is about overheating issues, not necessarily performance. At least that's what I've gathered since it's mentioned every time. My Nexus 5 still runs fine. I actually think it's seen a performance boost since updating from Kit Kat. I'm not personally big on processors since they all feel the same to me.

agreed, I'm certainly no developer, but prefer Nexus for the same reasons, as I'm sure must people that buy them do.

I wish every phone offered Google Play editions. granted I'm happy for the extra choices this year, but it'd be nice to be able to get any phone with stock.

I don't think that's a rant, it's a fair point with a lot of truth to it. I can't remember where I read it, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I read the other day that Moto might offer Fi later in 2016.

I agree that Google will continue to use Nexus for what it's always been intended for. As much as I'd love to see a big fat battery and nicer camera, I have no expectations of them offering that.

I do wonder though why they've been somewhat inconsistent the past couple years. Why was the 6 priced so differently than the 4 and 5? It does seem like there was some debate in house as to which direction they wanted to go.

Granted, it'll always be Nexus, but that doesn't mean one day things can change. It's certainly possible for them to continue the traditional Nexus brand, and offer a couple more mainstream devices. Like you said, they have the cash to make that happen tomorrow if they wanted to.

Once Fi gains more traction, it can be exorbitantly lucrative for them to offer a Fi friendly device at a lower price point, as they'll make their revenue on the service.

Do I think that's going to happen? no. I think they'll test it on the Nexus like they're doing then roll it out to their partners. And has any of their senior executives even hinted at that being a possibility? nope.

but i wouldn't consider it an impossibility, stranger things have happened.

overall I agree with you, however I will say that people have the right to ***** and moan if that's what they want to do. even though it's intended for developers, it's still being sold to the average consumer, and so long as Google is taking my money, I feel I have every right to voice my opinion.

9/10 times I have nothing but good things to say about Nexus, they're my favorite phones and this is always an exciting time of year. My only concern, and it's an industry wide issue, certainly not limited to Nexus, is the thin phone, small battery thing. To be honest though, I've wasted my breath on that issue and I'm pretty much over it.

Agreed but your the few intelligently voicing your open. The I agree with the average consumer has the right complain but if your in a forum your a little above the average consumer. So with being more than average consumer your more knowledgeable in the products your buying. Thus that person's opinion in that context should be to critic product issues that actually a fair apples to apples comparison. Again it's matter opinion I was just wondering why some becoming left field with theirs.
