[FullHDMI] Official FullHDMI discussion

I know you guys are going to be annoyed with this noob question but there's just too many pages to read through and I am a paying customer so please be gentle :p.

I am rooted but running the stock htc evo rom. When I try to switch to 1280x720 it says a custom kernel is needed. I believe I found this kernel on your website (HDMI kernel) but I'm hesitant to install it because I don't know if it will work with the stock rom I'm using. Ive never installed a custom rom or kernel before so any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure which HDMI kernel you are referring to here but this one should work with the stock ROM: http://qap.la/~netarchy/netarchy-toastmod-4.3.4-cfs-havs-less-nosbc-universal-signed.zip

Thanks for the quick response. Will installing this kernel change anything else on my phone and/or wipe my data?

Ran it with HDMwIn no problems. Can't imagine it's any different with FullHDMI.

The video is scaled down for the phone so it doesn't look all that great. Watchable, but you aren't going to be watching action movies using this setup.

I watched Grown Ups last night with wife, it looked great with FullHDMI and 720p. You will get a better experience with both apps if you are on WiFi and custom kernel. I can see myself watching action movies with this setup.

ce labs hdmi scaler flicker

i have the ce labs hsc12 scaler HDMI Amplifiers • Component Amplifiers • Composite Amplifiers • HDMI Over CAT5 Extenders • Switchers • Digital Signage • Digital Media Players • Content Management • 3D Ready A/V Distribution - HDMI A/V Distribution there is a some flicker mostly when watching movies on netflix and playing some games, i tried a few kernels but the flicker still there, is it the scaler making it flicker

savagedzen 2.2.0 cfs-havs
tiamat 3.3.8 sbc
tiamat 4.0.2 sbc

Most likely no, because the hardware drivers in the kernel had to be re-written to run 720p out the hdmi port. The only way you could do it without root and custom kernel is if HTC incorporates the modified HDMI drivers in the new kernel for the upcoming gingerbread release. It is a possibility but not very likely.

Will the new netflix app work with Fullhdmi?

I have been using it with Netflix over 3G since it was released, and 90% of the time, the quality is perfect. I use UD3.1 as my rom (AOSP), and the SavagedZen kernel.

It's seriously just as clear as any DVD I own when the connection is good. There are times where 3G seems to slow down, and it gets a little pixelated, but I don't have WiFi or 4G at my house. For the most part this looks perfect with Netflix over 3G.

Orrebmas,

I had a thought, I would be curious if any of you guys thought this would be a cool feature, but I would love to have a widget that turns on HDMI mirroring. Basically the widget would do exactly what pressing "apply and restart service" does.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again for the greatest HDMI app in existence!

Good idea! 1x1 and maybe a 2x4 widget

This is something I have been considering lately, but there is one problem. To create a widget I need the app itself to be a service always running in the background. As of now, the user interface and the functionality are "one" entity. I will need to separate the two which is not trivial, before implementing the widget. I think this is the natural direction of the project, and with Netflix I have been wanting this feature myself too.
I managed to put some time and fix some compatibility issues with FullHDMI and some Samsung TVs. Somehow these models are finicky when it comes to timing and would only display a black screen. I put in the fix today in the market and it works great on my phone. If you guys have the time, please upgrade and test it out. I am hoping there were no new bugs introduced in the process.

Hey guys, just wanted to mention that the latest Poonkang kernel lets me route audio in CM7 through HDMI cable for the first time, as well as resuming mirroring after disconnecting and plugging back in!

where is the link to the custom kernel? i.e. This is the only thing needed.
A special Sense kernel is linked on this page and provides better and smoother mirroring than stock, and also allow the user to select where the audio should go, over HDMI or play on the phone (for Sense).

[Kernel]netarchy-toastmod, Stable: 4.3.1 Beta: 4.3.4 (17-Mar-2011) Now With HDMwIn - xda-developers
You can choose any kernel that is 4.3.4 or better. You need to be root of course to replace HTC's kernel.

Having a problem. My 3g is slow (sprint), so I use wifi at home.

I narrowed this down to I cannot use wifi if fullhdmi is on and on 720p output.

If I run at 800x600 wifi works fine.

changed kernels, roms, back to stock, uninstalled, etc.

Any one else having this problem? How to debug?
