Galaxy Note 3 - Problem with Email. Help!

This works. The "window" icon on the far right is also at the very top. Very top, far right (looks like a window pane). You'll see a "Sync" icon. turn it on., (click and it becomes green when it's on,.)

This 'Sync' is a basic setting that I only use in a wifi area, and it is draining. I put it on to bring in Gmails which I rarely receive, to sync calendars, sms notes contacts.
I use Yahoo and other mail apps rather than the stock email puller.

I can't believe the OP, who seems a very smart lady, would not have tried this in the first instance.

Really great if it solved the issue for some posters of course.

Any update from the OP as to whether later firmware or a method described cured the issues?

(Mine is a November model so I'm just nosey)

Doesn't this sort of drain your battery though? Mine syncs every hour, but you can customize this by delving further into the sync settings if you periodically receive e-mails. If you have several emails set-up you'll have to go into each individual account to change this setting.

You mean it shouldn't drain the battery if I pull at intervals. Point. I think I have that on.

Back of my mind though it seemed to slows other data down when I need it, and is unnecessary 24hrs for me.

My problem (laugh after you hit the back button) is I am waiting for 4G from my carrier, or I can switch.
Speeds are improving weekly, and this Note 3 loads way faster on 3G than the GS2 I still use.

I have the same problem with my email on my note 3. I tried to setting in many ways, unfortunately it's not solve the problem. What you can do is resetting your system by using factory reset (available on setting menu). Don't worry with your applications you've downloaded. It will self restore to your smartphone by using an active network/wifi (better use Wifi is more faster), the restore system will do the restoration of your applications if your google account is active.

I have been very frustrated too but this post SOLVED MY PROBLEM. Pull down the notification screen, click on the upper right window icon to expand to see every option and then click on the sync icon. Mine was not clicked and when I did, my email AND other things synced like my contacts and calendar!! View attachment 100391
it worked for me. Problem solved

Hi there,
I am having the same problem with my Note 3 phone. I have got the hotmail and gmail accounts working fine no problems. Also now I have from going through this forum got 1 of my work accounts to work. Although the other 4 work emails are on the same server and I have used the exact same settings for them are not working! They receive all the mails when I first set up the account on the phone and then never receive any more! I have tried everything and nothing seems to be working.
I am at a complete loss and getting to the point of just wanting to bin the phone and start again with something else. So disappointed at what is suppose to be a great phone. Never had these problems with any phone before. Think I will go back to my blackberry if I can't sort this out soon.
Hope that someone can help me with this!

Thanks thanks thanks, a very easy fix ,this is it so easy ,been trying to fix this for so many months , you deserve a medal !!!!!!!

I found he solution. When you pull down tge notifications with 2 fingers all you need to do is tick the sync button and you will get your email pushed all the time. I hope this helped you

Hi all,
trying to set up a third e-mail account on my samsung galaxy note. however, receive the msg: 'cannot connect to server' when i run through pop3/imap stages....do you have any ideas pls on how to troubleshoot?
thank you!

Any luck resolving this issue? I have tried everything and I still have to go in and change the number of emails to sync.

Greetings,
If it's a work email i would just talk to the company's I-T to set it up. I ended up getting lock out of my desktop and email from work trying to set up my outlook email in my note 3 which I messed up... but now it's back and running fine.
Regards,
D.l

Re: Galaxy Note 3 - Problem with Email. Help! I

Hello Sir,
I registered my email account on my phone and sync mail email perfectly at first time, then it is not able to retrieve any other a mail what ever how i sync email ( manual, 5 min. or push )

This solved the email sync problem on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Talked to Verizon for almost an hour and we could not find the "Master Sync" setting in the settings menu. It kept saying "Master Sync is turned off" when we selected the green sync arrow. Coach Tuff because of your suggestion, we pulled down the menu at the top of the screen and strangely it doesn't show all the options (icons) when you scroll to the right. After pulling down the menu at the top, you next have to select the icon that looks like 3 windows and 2 arrows in the upper right of the screen. This then displays all the pull down icons. One of these icons says "Sync" and was grayed out on my Note 3. I highlighted the "Sync" icon and the "Master Sync" was now turned ON and the email began to automatically sync again. Hooray for success. Thank you.

Dunno if your problem's solved, but here is the solution.

Drag open the black bar status menu (on the top).
On the top right corner of the menu there is an icon looking like 4 squares.
Tap on that.
More icons will appear.
Look for the sync icon (or two arrows in a circle icon).
If it appears greyed out, turn it green by tapping on it.
Close the menu.

Your mails will start syncing again. (wifi or data services turned on!)

This is the master sync switch. Hence, no amount of twiddling the email setup will help, as long as this is turned off.

This new feature is on the Note 3 but not the Note 2. Heck if I know if this feature is a good idea or not as long as there is no reference and solution to the problem!

Cheers!

Broooo.... Tank u so much lah brooo.... I have tried everything available online, but "mmg cilaker" , your solution is da bestttt!!!!!! Nw i know i am not the master of my sync... 2 arrows in a circle icon is the real master yodaaaaa......

Not sure if you guys have been able to solve this issue yet, but I was having the same problem and found a solution! Here it is:

> open Gmail on your phone
> While in the application press the menu button on the phone
> Select the account you would like to push email from
> Make sure Notifications is checked
> Select "Inbox sound & Vibrate"
> Make sure "lable Notifications is checked"
> Check "notify for every message"

Whola! Your phone will push your emails! You all owe me lunch ;)

You can change this from the pull down menu at the top of the screen. Simply touch the very top of the screen and drag down. When I do this on my phone I see the time, the date, a settings icon and a second icon that will open up all the quick setting buttons. You'll see one for 'Sync' with two arrows going in a circle. When I selected it (made it green not grey) I started to get emails immediately.
