Galaxy Note 3 - Problem with Email. Help!

I've had this problem from day one and now it's really starting to bug me. I have to manually refresh my inboxes (two Hotmail accounts, one Gmail account) to get new emails to show which also means no notifications like I should be getting when one comes in. I never had this problem with my Note 2 so I don't know what settings need to be enabled to get emails on my phone automatically. Help me out here?

Slide down the screen which contains wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc
On the upper right corner there is an icon which expands all the options ..
the last one or the one before is " Sync"
Turn it on

Regards

Thanks! It's the only trick that seemed to work. Only thing is I had to go back to the settings, email, and tap where you see the "sync off" part shown below the title of email type and it all re synced for me. Yay!

I just went to setting> application manager slide to all and scroll down to email click click clear data (it will delete every thing including your accounts you'll just have to re sign in) then when signing in don't click next click manual set beside it and click the bottom one that says Microsoft exchange sync and then click next and your done and it should automatically sync!

I think I have the answer... you can enable master sync by going into pull down notifications and going to far right icon looks like a window and highlight sync icon so it's green... that should work and I think it has on my phone.

Edit: That seems have done the trick... hope the info above helps out.

Hey thanks! :D it works!! I felt pretty stupid when I realized the sync setting in my notifications was off. Here I was spending 20 minutes going through every setting possible for "master sync" to enable it. If anyone has trouble finding it, it's the same icon as the one u tap to manually sync but in the notifications drop down where u would turn off and on airplane mode etc. U might also find it by dragging down with two fingers instead of one. This fixed aaaall my problems :) Thanks again!

This worked for me :-)

I guess this is not a bug, for me this was due to power saving by AVG. It actually turns off sync by itself. I know my solution might be late, but for future references maybe :)

so here is what I did:

1. if you have AVG or any other apps that provides power saving make sure you turn that power saving option off.
2. turn off your devices and turn on in recovery mode (volume button up+home button+power)
3. when the screen turns on let go of the power button
4. choose wipe cache partition
5. then choose reboot when step 4 is done
6. should work !

Have a Galaxy Note 3... all settings are correct, but it will only update once, and no new messages come in from that point. I have wiped the app and set it up again repeatedly (Settings > General > Application Manager > Email > Clear Data). All port settings are correct (hence it loads), but it syncs just the ONE time, no matter how I set it for number of incoming messages (Total, 200, 25, etc.). If I send an email from my phone, it will show up on my computer, BUT, say I send an email to myself: the sent will go, it will show up in my computer Inbox and Sent, but won't show up in my Inbox on the phone. Sync is enabled in pull down settings, as well as if I go to Settings > Connections > Data Usage > Menu > Auto sync data (also enabled).

"Sync Email" is, of course, enabled, and I've tried sync schedule Automatic (Push) as well as Every 15 minutes. Neither works, it just syncs the once. HELP!

I called Samsung tech support because when I was trying to get my emails it was giving me the same message that the sync was not turned on. I was on the phone with them for over an half hour and they could not figure out the problem. I went to Google and typed in email sync issues with Note 3, or something to that effect, and I found the answer here...that took me about 1 minute.

At least Samsung isn't charging, but these customer service reps in the Philippines are not good. They always take so long just trying to get my personal information! 5 minutes into the call and they still trying to confirm my identity with questions about my email, phone, etc. It's a waste of time and only sometimes do they actually help you.

@CoachTaff

This was the fix for me! Thanks!! I hope others find their fixes to be this simple.

havve the same problem with synicing email...
it says sync turned off...if i check Synce email...it says Master synce turned off...
this is irritating

Pull down your top notifications drop down menu at the top of your phone. In the right upmost corner click the 3 blocks left arrow right arrow symbol so you can see ALL of the options. Click SYNC to turn your master sync back on. FIXED!

Your master sync is turned off. go to your home screen 2 fingers and slide down from the top of your screen. click on the icon that looks like 2 little squars. you will see a bunch of icons there will be one that says sync if its not high lighted its turned off. click it and turn it on. that is called your master sync when its turned off you don't get anything because it turns everything off. I hope that helps.

What's going on with this thread. Here's an idea. Find the green Sync button and turn it on. Could another 100 new members recommend this also.

Problems like this happened to me like twice since I've had my note 3 (mid october) resolves itself within 1-2 days
