Yep. Should definitely NOT have to do that, though.
Agreed. A $600 phone should be good to go right out of the box.

Under Call Settings you can enable a setting that ends the call with the power button.
Samsung Galaxy S5 (Verizon)
I've spent 5 cumulative hours playing around with the Galaxy S5 at my local Verizon store. I didn't get any lag. But I figured out how I'd want my homescreen to look when I get the 32 GB S5.
I just got mine and am using TouchWiz. So far I haven't noticed any lagging. I did see it in videos specifically demonstrating the lag, but for me it's been extremely fast.
I still disagree on the lag, I'm coming from a Nexus 5 and I see no difference at all. Things are pretty instant on both devices.

Well, those videos are misleading.... the S5 is a fast phone.. but the Nexus 5 (the other device I see most used) is just a wee bit faster still. The lag the S5 has is comparative, not absolute.
I am so sick and tired of all this crap about lag! This started way back with the S3 and has been used by FanBoys ever since! Bottom line is if you know what you are doing and change some settings this phone is just as fast as any on the market now! Add Nova launcher to the mix and it is absolutely blazing! Outside of the Gallery App which has been an issue for some time, everything is rock'n fast, PERIOD!
Now, if that's too much work for you, and you don't mind buying a phone missing the options and features of the S5, by all means go pickup a N5 or One M8! But don't fool yourself, just because it's less doesn't make it better! To each their own!
Cheers
