Galaxy S5 And Lag... Does It Or Doesn't It???

My phone doesn't lag at all, it runs smooth as a butter. Comming from iOS I'm definitely impressed :)

Yes, exactly... I also come from iOS and I find the S5 super snappy. Maybe it's just that iOS is slower but to tell you the truth, it was on a iPhone 4s so it's not a direct comparaison.

Yes, it stutters like crazy, especially in the homescreen and app drawer. It's unbelievable. It stutters more than an S4. It's just not a 60 FPS experience.

And opening Recent apps is slow. And I thought Touchwiz lag was overrated.
Mine doesn't stutter there.

I've only had my Samsung Galaxy S5 for about 2 or 3 months, and it is getting somewhat laggy. This seems to be coupled with a severe overheating problem, where the phone becomes very uncomfortable to touch and the battery mysteriously drains very quickly (to the point where if I'm charging via USB 2.0 from a computer USB jack, the battery level continues to drop, even when plugged in).

The lag sort of manifests itself as lagging when you're typing (no words will show up on the screen and the haptic feedback won't work) and just generally slow behavior. It really sucks because I left my Droid 4 primarily because it had gotten so slow that it was impossible to use. It also had terrible battery life so Samsung's battery drain issue is also disappointing!

I've had my phone for 5 months. It's just now starting to get a little lag. So, I cleared my Internet history-cache and wiped the cache partition...back to it's normal snappy self now :) The first thing I noticed getting slower was opening the camera. Now it takes 2 seconds. Do some maintenance. Clean out docs, pictures, videos, old messages and texts.

I have the SM-G901F version of the Galaxy S5. Galaxy S5 4G+ in Singapore. I find it to be a fast and smooth phone. I disabled all of the animations and s-voice and it flies. It is already fast to begin with. No complains here.

Update: It turns out that my sister had her S5 on battery saver mode so that's why it was stuttering all crazy. I disabled it and it runs smooth, but it still lags to open things like the Recent apps.

I've had the S5 2x. It was a great experience both of those times and I never noticed any lag. However, I always use Nova Prime and disable bloat and only have 3 home screens and not a ton of widgets. So perhaps that is why I rarely if ever notice any lag on my devices.

The S5 is a stellar phone still.

I really wish I'd found this thread 2 months ago :-/

I went from an iPhone 5 to the S5 as I needed a bigger screen. For that purpose the S5 was awesome, the screen size and clarity was perfect for me but the lag drove me insane. I never experienced any sluggishness on my iPhone so it was frustrating when the supposedly better spec Samsung would stutter so much. I did all the usual like trying different launchers, disabling active wallpapers etc but none of them made the slightest difference. I was even more annoying because CPU intensive games like Real Racer 3 would work fine with no issues yet texting (no matter which app I used for it) would often lag as I was trying to type.

If I was listening to music and wanted to skip to a different track often the phone wouldn't respond at all, the song would just keep playing.......until the phone caught up and would then skip 5 or 6 tracks due to me pressing the button a few times.

Issues like this (and others) just never happened with my iPhone 5 and after a while I just went back to it. The worst thing? 2 years ago I went from a 4S to the S3 and had the same lag problems. I went from an iPhone 5 to an S4 (again needing a larger screen) and had the same lag. And now it's happened with the S5.

Sorry Samsung but you've lost me as a customer forever.

What android version are you running?that plays a HUGE part on the lag, however i dont notice any lag on my 1 year old gs5 so i dont see how you are 'lagging' till the point where you blame samsung. It could possibly be the apps that you downloaded
