Galaxy S5: Got my wireless charging s-view flip cover!

So you can't charge with a A/C plug or a USB cable to a computer to continually "top off"?

I personally cant stand that usb flap. Of course I can plug in the phone manually. I see wireless charging as one of those minor conveniences that adds up over time. My car has one of those new keyless systems where I can open the doors and start the car without ever having to touch my car key. I like it so much that I doubt ill buy another car without this feature now.

Again YMMV :)

Does anyone know if the charging back plate will work with other cases? The touch stone charger is something I miss from my old Palm Pre days

@ibcop, yes, of course you can, but its very convenient to walk into the office, set the phone down and have it be charging with no further action required. So too to pick it up and walk out and not have to deal with cables or lil doors, etc.
@dusty the charging back is definitely thicker than the standard back. On my S4, sufficiently so that it would not fit in an Otterbox case. You may want to wait for them to appear in retail stores to check a particular case. The palm charger was a different standard than the QI one is use by Samsung, I implanted a Palm coil into a Samsung back cover a few years ago on my S3, but have since moved to the more modern standard. I miss the magnets that would hold the Palm on the touchstone.

I got mine today too. Seems to work great. I am waiting on just the backing to be released. Because I run it will be a hassle to keep taking this on and off to fit it in a arm band.

It makes sense to do that but maybe with just a wireless back - the flip type case just doesn't appeal to me.

The flip covers are not for everyone. you either like them or you don't.

As for wireless charging, I like to read the news on my phone before going to bed. I'm in a pitch black room and I now no longer have to fumble with that damn USB flap and plug in my cord to charge my phone before sleeping. With my Note 3, it was no big deal, but the S5 with that flap drove me nuts. Now I just place my phone on the pad and it starts to charge immediately.

I been trying to get one, but it is back ordered on samsung.com, went to tmobile, sprint, and verizon store today but they didn't have any :'( (this was at the mall, tomorrow I will try an actual store) they only had the non QI S View cover. Can you please tell me the location of the verizon store you got it from??

BTW I just got my RAVPower? Qi-Enabled Wireless Charger / 4800mAh External Battery Pack Charger. This thing is awesome, it is a backup battery and wireless charger all in one, $56 on amazon. If the battery pack still charge, you do not even need to connect to power source, so you can take this with you anywhere. So I been going crazy to try it out, but no QI cover :(

Got it at my local Verizon store. Its slightly thicker than the non wireless back :( any questions ask away!

Does your flap stay all the way shut, even when folding it back for a while?

It does charge at about or a little more of 1%/per min.

It does discontinue charging once th e battery is full. Which may not cause an issue for most people. But if your like me and charge at night and like to wake up with a full battery, you won't unless you adjust some things.

The back for the sview is slightly thicker, but it stays on better and feels more secure. To me this means better protection against water and drops.

Also the cover seems to have a memory to it. Meaning if you keep it close for a while, it'll stay closed. If you keep it folded back for a while, it'll try to follow suit.

I purchased a little clip for about $9 that slips on the case cover and attaches to the side of the phone via double sided tape. It then latches to its self via magnet and works awesome! It's small, sleek and looks cool. Drives all the Samsung people nuts trying to figure out what case it is. It's made my spigen and is about $9 on amazon.

Another thing to keep in mind, unless you have a clip to keep the cover closed, your cover will swing open while wireless charging, since i don't think you can have it face down on the charger.

The fact that in your pictures, the once poking our camera is now recessed, should give people a good idea of exactly HOW thick this thing is. I love wireless charging and used it on my GS3 for awhile until the form factor got to me. If they want this to catch on, OEMs need to start making it part of the design process and not an afterthought. The Nexus 5 showed that a phone can still be slim and sleek with built in qi.

I will probably still give the non S-Cover back a shot, but the added thickness really becomes a distraction from an otherwise beautiful device.

I've heard those end up scratching the screen eventually

Anyways, is anyone else having an issue with the auto wake on /off stopping to work?

A reboot fixes it, but it's a weird glitch so the actual case isn't the issue

Will the S View charging cover work with a glass screen protector install on the phone?

Thinking about picking up this combo today.

Hi,
So if I understand, in order to use the s-view wireless charging flip cover, you need the wireless charging pad? At the end the whole kit comes up to a hefty price! How much was the S-View wireless cover if you don't mind me asking? The cheapest I can find online is $60 USD ($65 with shipping).
Could you tell us about the closing flap? Is it true that it doesn't close well? I assume over time it will.
