GB .595 is out in the wild

I'm still wondering if since I'm on the non rooted signed .588 if i'll be able to get the OTA? It was flashable with stock recovery so that means it had to be signed, correct? I purposely stayed on this release so I would be able to just get the OTA.

According to P3, you cannot get OTA on any build other than .595

Yup, worked like a charm, no wiping or resetting needed. FLASHED right over. 591 so now Im ready for the Official OTA coming in a few days. Wonder how the devs feel about the constant updates.
Edit: Fabs tweet "There will be NO Apex built on this "intermediary" .595 leak build! I'll wait until the official build is out this time! "

Did you do the deodexed version or rooted, because keep in mind from what I understand only the stock unroot odexed version will receive update correctly.

The stock .595 file has been updated... I flashed it and rooted via Ginerbreak 1.2. All is well now!

Update: actually... I think im partially rooted. It's weird. Root Explorer sort of works, SetCPU and Ad Free appear to be fully working, but everything else (Titanium BU and ShootMe for examples) does not have root access.

Install Busybox should resolve this..

Sooo.... I cleared the apps from su and that didn't work. Then I deleted and reinstalled su and now I don't have root and Gingerbreak does not seem to be able to reroot me. Sad days...

Any more ideas now?

Apparently it won't work. The reason is that people who were supposed to be getting those OTA's (people who were actually testing) probably got the other two updates as OTAs - but those weren't accidently sent to non-testers, so the only access to everyone else is the leaked versions. Verizon doesn't want to encourage people to play with their phones, so they'll simply only allow updates from authorized OS versions, which will be froyo (what most people are one) and the .595 update, which is apparently the last one that was sent out to legit testers. Hence you have to be on one of those, even though .588 was signed (I feel for you - the only reason I went to .588 was under a similar set of assumptions as you had).

Anyways, if you root it with gingerbreak and install the D2 Bootstrap (NOT the DX Bootstrap) it's pretty painless to install .591 and then .595. It was my first time using them, but followed the instructions and had no problems. I definitly plan to sit here on stock .595 and wait for the official version though.

Which .595 did u flash? The nonrooted stock had issues, it's been redone, download again and give it another go, or just flash the deodexed rooted one. If you did that one, flash it again just for sh$ts.

I flashed the new version of the stock 595. Now that I don't have root id have to sbf back to 340 and then come forward again bc I can't get into clockwork recovery.

Mine went through perfectly...this is probably a dumb question, but you are using the D2 bootstrap (rather than the DX bootstrap) to update with, right?

installed flawlessly once again. Just a few minor visual changes and I'll be back to where I was. Wow Liberty didnt even hiccup, thats so awesome.

I've been using DX bootstrap... I know eveyone has been saying to use the D2 but if you disable USB debugging DX bootstrap will work (or at least has been).

...Either way, my main problem is that gingerbreak will not re-root me at the moment ... :(

You might have tried this, but for Gingerbreak to work, USB Debugging has to be turned on. If it's been off because you've been using DX Bootstrap instead that might be why. Just a thought :) Good luck though!

just wanted to add a little more to this, Gingerbreak is an app that you install to your phone, not something you flash via any bootstrap.

need the blue circle bat mod + crt + trans lock screen + no throttle mod for 595 if anyone see it, post it up.
I have found CRT only mod so far.

I dont know if this helps, but I still have the ginger juiced version of the CRT anim(from Wildman) still installed and its held on all thu the new GB and kernel and ROM leaks(Liberty) In case anyone was wondering if theyd have to re-install each leak or etc.

So now that we're on this newest leak, we should all be ready for the OTA, right? Hopefully it hits this week!

Droid X version only works without Debugging on but the issue that you are having is the main problem with doing this, with debugging off a number of rooted apps do not function correctly and this includes Bootstrap, when a system crashes and you have debugging off the device doesn't automatically boot into the Bootstrap recovery to recover the issue, you really need to give thought to putting the Droid 2 version and enabled debugging to avoid this issue.

Ok, so I am a still a little confused. If you are on .588 do you have to go .591 THEN .595? Or can you go .588 straight to .595?
