GB Rom Leaked for HTC EVO

Is somebody working on stuffing Sense 2.0 or 3.0 into this yet?

i think Virus over at xda has cooked Sense 2.1 into a ROM with Gingersense. lemme find the link and edit it into this post

also i dont think 3.0 will be ready for the Evo for a long while....they just ported it over to the Desire and it is SOOOOOO buggy!

Word I've heard is Evo won't be able to run 3.0, hopefully 2.1 but prolly hopping to Evo 3D in a couple months.

I think I'm going to wait about a month after the update comes out to research any complaints on the 2.3.3 before I update my evo.

Yeah, I was looking at that one and I couldn't find anywhere that it said that it was based off of the recent leak.

I also can't find anywhere what issues the leak has, and based off of the known issues with all other Gingerbread custom ROMs so far I can't use them either: I need my front cam and 4G working.

One bug I came across for the second release of Virus's ROM with Sense 2.1. A friend called earlier and they told I sounded like a chipmunk...lol. He asked me if I was messing with him and I told him no. I wonder if its because the ROM was made from software for a GSM phone and not CDMA....thoughts?

It might not be your phone actually. My brother has a Moto Droid and his speaker is actually messed up so that everything coming out of it sounds like a chipmunk... Maybe it happened on your friend's earpiece too?

feel your pain, but if this is based off the new leaked gingerbread.... it is the gingerbread made for the evo so everything should be working. the other ginger roms have ported from other phones that did not include 4g or front facing camera, so hopefully this is the one we have all been waiting for!

i believe they got a file just for the hd2 and it wasnt a fully usable rom yet, had watermark on the screen and data doesnt work good and just not a usable rom just yet but that is progress from when they first started with dumped partitions

That's what I thought, too... And that's why I was surprised to see some things that said "not working" on the Virus ROM as well as the lack of information I can find on what DOESN'T work with the leak.

All I'm asking for (bring on the threats) is the leaked ROM, fully working, but with Sense 2.1 crammed in there. As this is the LEAKED TEST version, this may be what HTC is working towards anyways, but I understand that they would need to iterate the functionality one at a time in order to fully test compatibility. So hopefully this leak is just a build before HTC crams Sense 2.1 into it.

You don't have to wait for the ROM to he available inside of ROM Manager. You can install it from the SD card like you would any other ROM.

Exchange?

Does anyone who has flashed this ROM use the built in Mail app for Exchange syncing?

I've flashed other Sense 2.0 ROMs, and they couldn't actually send email from the Mail app when configured with Exchange Activesync.

Any experiences or thoughts?

I used the built in mail app to sync with Exchange 2003 on my Evo stock with 2.2. I have used the stock Gingerbread email app in a non-sense ROM (which BTW is far superior to the HTC email client) without problem. I have also used the HTC email app in the 2.3 Sense ROM from MisFit without problem. All was with exchange 2003.

Actually I have even laid the Gingerbread Email app over the HTC app and used both on the same device without problem.

I am using Misfit's version of the leaked ROM with no brightness issues. I think he has figured it out on all phones.

Note there are several version on fht leaked ROM out now, not all have the same features/bugs.
