Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

I have the Turbo atm and like it a lot. But the no data while on a call bothers me, and may have me going back to Samsung and the Note 4.

Re: AT&T / Verizon compatibility Question??

The nexus 6 from either the play store or Motorola direct will work out of the box with any of the carriers including AT&T and Verizon. It's as simple as swapping SIM cards on either service granted that you already have a nano sim.

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

Did it? I know that note went up not too long after last week's first batch sold out, and I don't recall it ever including Verizon. Like I said, I'm fairly sure that notice, in particular, is only in reference to the carriers selling it soon, and for whatever reason, Verizon will be settling it later than everyone else.

thank you...yes, i do that all the time with att but my new company may have a better corp discount w verizon so i wanted to make sure.
with verizon, sim activates the data. they will need the imei/sn for voice....i believe.

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

I was led to believe that the New Droid turbo had 90 days exclusive with Verizon. after that they then might start selling the Nexus 6 themselves

below from the Moto support page
"Networks and compatible carriers
2G/3G/4G LTE
Compatible with a variety of carriers, including those listed below. Availability and timing varies by carrier and retailer. Check with your carrier for details.
North America:
T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, USC, Bell, Rogers, Telus, Telcel, Verizon"

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

No, this past Sunday I was showing the N6 to my mother (she wants one bad) on the Play Store and it clearly showed Verizon as one of the Carriers.

Verizon is still one of the carriers. Look at the Google.com/nexus/6. Vzw us still listed as a carrier.

Thanks +mountainman15 and I stand corrected everyone else. This is the page where we saw Verizon listed.

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

Should have known Verizon wasn't going to let anything trump it's Droid line.....

Sounds just like Verizon wireless........ So Late January? Early February?

I saw a post online that listed everyone... Said T-Mobile on sale 11/12... AT&T preorders 11/12 shipping 11/21.. Sprint in stores and online 11/14... US Cellular 11/21 and Verizon "Coming Soon"

Don't know how accurate that is outside the T-Mobile and Verizon parts....

I would LOVE it if someone can confirm that (preferably w/ a cited link). My plan is to use my VZ hotspot UDP in the N6 and just use hangouts for calling, so all I'd need would be the data. If that means I could just pick one up anywhere, incl. T-Mobile, all the better!

Buy ATT, activate Verizon/Bloatware

If I buy the phone on ATT, but activate on Verizon, can I then remove the ATT bloatware without rooting?

Will the Verizon bloatware be installed upon activation?

re Disabling bloatware apps: Once disabled, do they have any impact on memory and performance of the phone?

Re: Buy ATT, activate Verizon/Bloatware

From what's been written about Lollipop and the Nexus 6, carrier bloat is downloaded from the Google Play Store upon activation of a SIM in the device.

You no longer have to disable the bloatware since it's not permanently baked in the ROM like the old days. You should be free to actually uninstall it completely after the initial download.

Re: AT&T / Verizon compatibility Question??

I buy and sell phones all the time. As long as I have the proper SIM size I never need to visit a verizon store. Pop the SIM out of my old phone and into my new one and away I go. Don't even need to log on online to register the IMEI or anything it just works the same way as on AT&T

But what would a "90 day exclusive" mean? They can't sell any other phone beside the Turbo for 90 days? Doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

Moto droid vs moto nexus 6
But they would both be Verizon phones. So you're saying they would intentionally leave money on the table? As long as the phone is subsidized they're making the same money.

Like I told someone before, Verizon could announce the phone next Tuesday and let orders start on Friday. They don't usually announce phones way ahead of the time you'll actually be able to buy it.

A 90 day exclusive means that NO OTHER CARRIER would be able to sell that particular phone for 90 days.

And think about it like this: the Nexus 6 in North America is the same on every carrier. If Verizon doesn't carry it then they'll have people buying it from other places and activating it on Verizon. That would mean they (VZW) just missed out on $650-700 even though the phone is being used on their network. That's not smart business practice.

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

So ran into a Moto rep today at the Verizon store who had just got the Nexus 6 as his demo phone to carry around yesterday.

Good news: He doesn't get demos unless its actually going to be released on Verizon.

Bad News: He also said he's hearing December/January release due to the Turbo. Verizon makes much higher profit margin on the Turbo and Droid phones in general.

Take this for what its worth.
