Gorilla Glass 4 on the Galaxy S6 = Not that tough.

Ok, in all seriousness, what is the point of glass on the BACK of the phone? Can someone please tell me what is the functional purpose of that?
Seems like a failure point that could be eliminated. Is there a purpose for it? Thanks.

Years of complaints about the plastic back could be a reason.

Did you see the AA article? Here's a thought. Lose weight or don't sit on your phone.

I've always felt that if you're the type to sit down with your phone in your pocket and expect it to not be damaged...that you don't deserve to have that phone. ...in my sick little world. At 45 I'm 5'5" and 121lbs. While weight loss may not be a bad idea for some I don't have an abundance of it to lose.

People/reviewers complained about the cheap plastic feel of Samsung devices. Seeing as how Samsung incorporated two wireless charging standards into the S6, that would eliminate an all metal back like the M9 and iPhone. That really just leaves glass as the only viable option for a "premium" feel without giving up wireless charging.

Ah ha moment! I didn't realize that an all metal body would disturb the wireless charging. I hope a thin TPU case won't effect it,

This glass back thing is one of the dumbest idea in mobile electronic history. 90% of the iPhones I see are cracked up. I expect the same with the S6.

Apple should drop a lot of their stupid design choices, since any one of them causes their phones to break. If you smash something against the ground or drop something its likely going to get damaged, broken, cracked etc. Samsung did not say this phone was bullet proof, it would be indestructible. these videos are purely click bait.

Now if you want to see something getting really torn apart device wise check out this youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/ratedrr you won't believe your eyes. How about a Desert Eagle .50 Cal taking out a Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch.

#BendGate 2.0

Overrated, pointless and worthless. Enough said. If anything, it's just to generate more hype and clicks...

Given how that machine bends anything that goes through it, it's a completely pointless test. Like what a forum member mentioned, that machine only applies pressure to a specific area. In the real-world, that pressure is spread out. That's why all the phones you see suffer no bendage.

Still. Imagine if the S6/S6e had been made with titanium (or at least a titanium-aluminium alloy). Yeah, it would either cost more or Samsung would make less profit. ...but maaaan, the pure sliqness of that would be inescapable...like a black hole. Such a bold design decision would be one I'd love and have to jump on.

"The S6 Titanium. Nothing escapes, not even your wallet."

Baby steps, I know.

Awesome post. I am always amused at the posts that complain with each iteration about the plastic back and then Samsung chooses more premium materials. . They still complain because it isn't their approved choice. Build a bridge and get over it. It's a step in the right direction as is the GS6 overall.

Glass back for NFC and MST as well as wireless charging? I only ask because it came up in the DetroitBorg hands on video.

There is a difference between shatter or scratch resistant and being shatter or scratch proof. My Defender should mitigate most normal drops even from a height of several feet but I am slamming my GS6 on the ground to find out. No matter how you slice it, glass scratches and breaks. GG is just more resistant or less likely to do so.

Funny how the only drop test showing the S6 shattering on the first try was sponsored by a case and accessory manufacturer... Probably just coincidence, huh?
