[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Re: [GUIDE][6/29] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Do you have adequate refreshments? About to fire up the TBolt and test GPS on that.

Not at all. Going to fiancee's work after I flash Jelly Belly and set it up.

ALSO, that trinity kernel has a boot animation--unfortunately.

How we feeling about vicious v3, crackflashers? Thinking I'm gonna flash it in a little bit. I saw before about maps/GPS, which is sketchy on all these ROMs.. any other issues or are those who flashed it happy ? :)

I would say V3 performing best so far on my phone.
I started with JD's on Thursday, got stuck couple times on Google screen.I already had Flow V1 on sdcard so went ahead and flashed it.Had a couple Fcs on k9 mail app. That turned out to be an app issue.
I went with Vicious V2 yesterday afternoon, this morning dirty flashed V3 over the top.So far no real issues, not laggy.GPS locks pretty quick
I have noticed one thing on hanging on Google screen is its more likely to happen when plugged in.
I'm probably going to stick with V3 for awhile unless a major downfall occurs ha.

I have updated the OP with a warning for "new rooters" and flashers.

This warning isn't necessarily there to stop new folks, but it's there to let them know--this is highly, highly experimental and comes with a decent amount of risk.

Let's just hope that they read it and not just jump directly to the files they want to download.

Couldn't get it to work in Brooklyn/Staten island but humming along smoothly in manhattan

I did use the GPS status app as recommended earlier

Speaking of which, what do you guys do with that GPS Status app? Reset and then the download option?

That's why. You're in the wrong forum and you have the wrong phone :). This is the Verizon forum, with ports/roms for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, not the Google/GSM forum.

Yup not sure if that actually helps or things just got sorted out on their own

I have another android device on at&t, bone stock, had no GPS issues at all even when my nexus was still locating me in the hudson

I use GPS Status as well. Typically I give it a minute to see what it picks up and what information it shows, but after that you've got it right. It's been a while, using the Download aGPS Data option is the way to go. There should be an option to do it on app startup, so that launching GPS Status will trigger the aGPS download. Even for devices not suffering from poor GPS performance, having up-to-date assisted-GPS data will in many cases decrease lock times and increase accuracy and consistency.

Assisted GPS involves proving the device in question with a local set of data referencing GPS satellites' locations. This increases speed in areas of good signal, and allows for a more reliable lock in areas where the signal has been degraded, reflected, or refracted to the point where the device can't accurately locate the satellites using said signal. The Wikipedia article is a decent read.

My GPS is worst now

Last time I checked it was worse for me as well. Went from being within a few hundred feet to being about a quarter mile off lol

Damn, I was so stoked to flash V3, just finished my nandroid backup, then figger'd I'd check latest updates before flashing. =/

I think I may hold off for a bit.

Re: [GUIDE][6/30] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Anyone having any problems flashing any jelly bean ROM? I can't get it to work on my phone. I tried axiom, vanilla, jelly belly and all I get to is the boot animation and it locks. I've started a thread to try and get some help but I figure if you throw enough crap at the wall some will stick. I even changed ICS roms and tried them all again and I go into a boot loop every time. It sucks seeing everyone else using this and I'm flapping in the breeze. I'm running AOKP VERSION 40. I do all the proper wiping and leave my phone for at least 30 every time.

Yeah i'm holding off on flashing anything (aside from kernels right now) for two reasons:

(1) I'm not sure how many improvements can be made aside from customizations,

(2) Sheer paranoia
