[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Re: [GUIDE][6/30] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

DL Jake's Jelly Belly now ,ha :)

DONE! Did a first just now, <DEVIRGiNIZED> went into the zip file of Jelly Belly and saw that it looked A LOT like what you see when your nosing around in RootExplorer, replaced the BOOT.img (Franco) and my custom SPN-CONF file (Changed the carrier name) in their respectful places and VIOLA!

Is this technically my first custom rom?? :D

Re: [GUIDE][6/30] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

my gps worked well today then when i needed t on way home i was a 1/4 inch from the road was actually on besides that only apps im havng issues wth are vzw apps

I've gone from AOKP M5 to Vicious V2 to AOKP B40, and finally now back to tasty Jelly Bean, Vicious 3. Think I'll be sticking with JB because even though the customized nature of AOKP is what drew me ROMs in the first place, I'm actually enjoying stock ( or I guess technically stock-ish) even more right now. I was also curious about performance differences with GPS, etc. so while switching I tried Nav etc a few times. My GPS experience has actually been slightly better with JB than ICS. Locks quickly and regularly in areas I had previous issues and is more accurate. Weird, I know, since apparently the opposite has been more common but hey, I'll take being lucky

Beans in a Nexus

Edit: damn you auto correct

If I read that correctly... you were a quarter inch from the road you were supposed to be on? This GPS problem is really getting intense.. :D

(Quarter mile I assume, haha.)

HUMONGOUS BIG UPDATE:

A general guide to softbricking/restoring your device and putting a custom recovery on your phone has been added to the tips/tricks post. Please double check this, I did it from memory, but i'm 99% sure it's 100% valid. :)

- D

do you have a link to that post please. I couldn't find it. Is it in the root/ROM/hacking threads or the general nexus tips/hints cause I didn't see it there. Thought maybe had some info that could help me with my problem.
Thanks

I am running CDMA galaxy nexus ....flashed vicious jellybean v2.

Easy. Just create a file called gps.conf with the following information in it. Then replace the /system/etc/gps.conf with this one.

NTP_SERVER=server 0.us.pool.ntp.org
server 1.us.pool.ntp.org
server 2.us.pool.ntp.org
server 3.us.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_2=1.north-america.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_3=2.north-america.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_4=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_5=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
ACCURACY_THRES=80
SUPL_PORT=7276
SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com

OK ...so far so good! I think this is the fix WE ALL SEEM TO NEED! 300milez yesterday battling with GPS.........ugh.
This is what my GPS.conf WAS (as in the problem is below NOT the solution):
------------------------------------------------
NTP_SERVER=north-america.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com
SUPL_PORT=7276
---------------------------------

If that helps anyone diagnose.

To edit I used the root explorer in rom toolbox. Long pressed GPS.conf and hit edit. Renamed it GPS.conf back. ...is made another GPS.conf ....I edited it and pasted the solution there.

Was about to change it but it looks similar to the fix above, will test this now, going out for a 2 hour ride, ;)

Anyone know if any of these newer ports fix the received MMS always in slideshow bug? I don't have any issues with my current setup, but was thinking of flashing jelly belly 1.6 if the MMS was working right.

Re: [GUIDE][6/30] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

So, I'm super bored today, and I don't think I can hold my curiosity off any longer... What's the best, most stable JB ROM to go with, right now? Also, what, exactly, isn't quite working, in terms of the features? I've heard that, for example, the options in notifications (for instance, being able to "call back" right from a missed call notification in the drop down menu) don't work, but I've heard that's not true from other sources.
