root trouble

I am having trouble getting the 1-click root on my fascinate. The installation starts off fine but never finishes. the last line in the terminal reads

[*] adb connection will be reset. restart adb server on desktop and re-login.

Im getting frustrated because the same thing happens when I try the root manually. I've waited a long time on my attempts only to find my phone locked up. Any ideas?

How long have you been waiting?

I tried to Root the Fascinate on my Mac also and the files that Cory referenced don't seem to be there anymore. I would like to hopefully find detailed instruction to root my Verizon Fascinate on my Mac can someone help.

How long have you been waiting?

about 2 hrs before i got impatient. on my last attempt it made it though the setup but the phone did not reboot on its own. I restart it and think it may now be rooted (i have the superuser app in my app drawer) but when i try to install apps that require a root they say they cannot locate my root file..

Thats strange how it would take that long... Some phones have a really hard time running the root exploit.

Any update? Did it ever get rooted? Its normal to reboot the phone manually.

Ok I'm attempting root one more time before I give up completely.

This is what I am getting with the 1-click-root-v1.1 in my terminal...

120-MacBook:~ owner1$ cd '/1-click-root-v1.1/Files' ; clear

I don't understand the "too many arguments" remarks.

This is an issue that I haven't found a work around for. It happened when the 1-clicks are in a directory in which the path has a space in it somewhere. Put the 1-click on your desktop, or the root of your hard drive and try it again.

From what you posted, the necessary kernel to install recovery installed fine. The next thing you need to do is run the recovery installation.

HELP

I'm new to rooting and I have been attempting to root my Samsung Fascinate for a few hours now. I have a Mac and I have been reading thread after thread as well as watch tutorial after tutorial attempting to root my phone and no matter what I do nothing happens. I don't understand why. In terminal it keeps telling me "permission denied" I even attempted to use the "sudo" command and again, after I put in my password, I am still denied the permission to do anything to this phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

ok i have red recovery but when i try to install the rom i have on my phone it wont do anything but freeze for hours any suggestions on how to fix that.

Thanks but it still doesn't work. No matter what I do it says, "permission denied". I'm just going to get a new phone. The Samsung Fascinate holds as much value as the Blackberry Storm. Definitely in the running for the worst cellular device ever created.

Wrong. Also highly disagree.

Get a PC and you wouldn't feel that way. However even with A Mac Im sure you can figure it out. Others have and DX gave you a great resource to try. But I as well Highly Disagree.
