Yep. Gumbo 1.5c will have it's own custom kernel, with these changes, cpu scaling and powersave mode, as well as debugging stripped out for even more speed. Waiting to see if i can figure out overclocking before I send out to some testers.
Sweet gb cant wait! I went back to your ROM after trying out modaco 2.2. I just dont like the original look anymore.

Any special instructions? Or should I just jump right in?
can someone tell me.What other components runs with the voice search. the apk file is installed,I'm getting fc issues.I had removed it,but because i use handcent sms i sometimes use the speak feature. and it relies on voice search.I didn't know that till now.So i pushed it back to data/app but now I'm facing that issue.

Currently I have root access, but I've never done a new rom, so I have a few questions/concerns.
1.Will I lose anything on my phone? ( SprintNav, or any Sprint Apps )
2.Will I lose the ability to sync my contacts with facebook?
3.Will I be able to go to 2.1 when release?

Never used it, but you're right. FC heaven. I'll try to track down why and fix in the upcoming release. Sorry
1. Only Sprint Nav will be installed by default. All the other stock apps are built as add ons that can be added back to the ROM. Links are in the first post.

3. Yes, but don't OTA upgrade. Give the ROM cookers a day or so and they will have updates their ROM's to the latest versions. Updating OTA may break your ability to have root.

Open BETA test of Gumbo Kernel

As an alternative to MoDaCo Custom kernel (which also drops right in to Gumbo) I've built a kernel with some power saving features enabled. I'm currently at 52 hours without charging, and this is with moderate use.
Note that users of MoDaCo's Custom kernel will need to flash back to Gumbo 1.5b before flashing this kernel. No data wipe should be needed, but as always YMMV.
What's changed?
Kernel debugging is removed
Ability to choose CPU scaling governor.
How to use -
1 Nandroid back up!!!
2 Download and flash the kernel image above
3 You have several choices of cpu power managment:

Please download the Setcpu application. Note the sliders and widget don't report correctly, but if you choose Hero in the app setup you can use the programs drop down menu to choose between the 4 available cpu settings. The Userspace setting is not supported.
Compcache is not enabled in this version. I see no reason to use compcache while trying to conserve battery, and since MoDaCo's works so well it will be officially supported in Gumbo. This gives the users a choice between high performance (at cost of battery) or normal performance with the ability to enter a power saving mode.
THIS IS A BETA TEST. It works and is stable on MY Hero. Please be sure to back your system up, and report any and all bugs. Once this is confirmed as stable, Gumbo 1.5c will include the changes, and Gumbo 1.51-mck will include MoDaCo's kernel.
Kernel source is available on request, and will be published on release.

wow...i finally got it..lol i never stop looking..the speech library (libspeech.so) was missing and i pushed it back in there....Is there a program to read the apk file that way i can trouble shoot whats missing?

LOL that was easy. A typo in the file name. new version will be right up.
No problem. What I did was wipe, reinstalled gumbo, then flashed. It didnt work so i wiped again and flashed and thats what I got.

Only reason I reflashed gumbo was because I have modaco's custom kernel. Not sure if that matters.
