Have you canceled your Pixel 2 XL pre-order?

No lag at all on my s8. Lots of misinformation about the new line of Samsung phones in these threads
Good for you, people who use and are used to Pixel phones can see lag on other phones. I had S8+, Note 8 and Note 8 is much closer to Pixel in terms of smoothness though not at Pixel level, S8+ was alright but still way off from Pixel.
It's not misinformation, it's just based on individual experience. If you don't see lag then good, doesn't mean others don't see that. Same way for Pixel 2 XL screen issues, some people just can't tolerate and others are like I don't see anything wrong with it.

I did not cancel my pre-order. It is due to arrive tomorrow. But unlike previous devices, I'm hesitant to say anything on social media about my excitement about the 2 XL due to the increasing amount of bad/embarrassing press it's getting. I really don't need the Samsung & Apple fanboys teasing me for buying what could be a total lemon. So I'll wait until I know my device is top notch before I say anything about it. And it's kind of weird to feel shame or embarrassment about something like this, but it is what it is this time around.

After buying 2 LGs back to back I don't care what anyone thinks except when I ask advice. I buy what I like and when I stop liking it I buy something else.

To be honest, I'm still debating whether or not to cancel my pre-order (Pixel 2 XL 64GB, Just Black). I ordered on October 10th and it's expected to ship on October 26th. Even went to the extent of ordering a case (Caseology, from Amazon) and a tempered glass screen protector (both from Amazon.com) before the phone even arrives. Now I'm unsure if I should keep the phone in light of all the reports of screen issues that's making the headlines.

To me, it's not a matter of whether they're real or exaggerated [the screen issues] but rather the notion that at this price range for a phone, but rather they exist when compared to other phones within the same price range and category. Having owned a Nexus 4 (still have it) and a Nexus 6P (recently sold it), I would prefer to stay with the experience that you get from a Google device but this is really swaying me to consider a Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Lol.. yeah i order the same case and a screen protector.. sitting in my car. I cancelled a week ago.. after ordering a 64 blk xl on launch day.. canceled next day for the 128gb.. then reality set in.. how much better is this than my N6? So with all the screen issues, touch issues, noise issues.. i will wait.. maybe they will go Essential route and discount my 200$ or the Oneplus 5T proves out

I am in the same boat as you. I have a oneplus 5 and it's a great device so it's hard justifying spending over a grand on a device that has some issues. In some ways it's a downgrade.

Mine is arriving on Friday so I'll try it out. Any little thing and it goes back.

I have an awesome glass screen protector and a very nice case sitting here waiting on the arrival of the device, too. And I don't care about the "bezel-less" thing or other flashy design queues. I love the "pure Android" (if that still technically applies) thing, I love the super fast updates and....that camera......WOW. But...a screen that burns in within a week or two of use? Noooooope. So I'm hoping the panel I get isn't susceptible to that. If it isn't, then I'll be extremely happy with the 2 XL, blue color on an angle thing and all. Otherwise, the S9+ will suddenly become at least an option next year (yuck, but it is what it is).

My pre-order for my Panda is in limbo w/ Google so I ordered a black one at 5 PM EST from Verizon. It will be at my work tomorrow morning. 128 GB XL. I can't wait to try it out.

just went ahead and canceled my panda order. figured id keep the pixel xl for another year and got the pixel book instead! pixelbook and og pixel xl should be sweet for a year. f it.

I have not cancelled, but am seriously considering it.
$1,145 and change for Panda XL2 128GB with 2-year protection. I think at this point, I keep my OG Pixel XL and put that other money towards a laptop to replace my aging iMac desktop from 2011.

I am really, really trying to justify the XL2 over my XL, but I am not wondering if it isn't worth it to have a slightly better camera, front facing speakers and waterproofing (which has never been a concern of mine - you know, until it isn't).

I luckily got to purchase the Panda XL2 as soon as it went live via F5 refreshing the store while the keynote was still going on, so I will have the Panda XL2 in less than a week now if I don't cancel by Friday or so...

In your scenario I'd rather have a new laptop + OG Pixel XL than just Pixel 2 XL. Probably cost you a bit more this way though but you end with with way more IMO.

I think that's good advice.
Plus I have had a $350 Best Buy gift card burning a hole in my pocket for months now to apply to whatever laptop I decide on.

I just bought a new case for my OG Pixel and am going to cancel my pre-order now, pretending the new case will be a new phone... i'll also change the home-screen layout and background hahaha.

I don't want to sidetrack my own thread but what laptop you thinking about?

Just to let you know my thoughts on the Galaxy S8 Plus...I am using one now and while it works well and display is good, it's one of the most boring Androids out there. It's not a pretty phone and I HATE the curved edges and the fact that you can't apply a tempered glass screen protector. I ordered the Pixel 2 XL and it's shipping the end of November so I'm hoping my screen is corrected from these burn in problems. I would check your phone carefully for any problems with the screen and be vigilant, but everyone is saying you have a built-in year warranty to return if there are any problems like this. I owned the Pixel XL and loved it, but wound up selling it and buying a Note 7 explosive phone because I'm an early adopter nut. I think you'll like the Pixel XL much better than the S8 Plus which I'm bored with after only a month of use!

If Google sweeps this under the rug, just about everyone with an ounce of sense will return the Pixel 2 XL.

False. So far there is only a single issue which is not even rumored to impact all devices. Google's response needs to be appropriate and take care of this with bad devices, but it doesn't need to be public and it doesn't need to be at the same scale as the hyperbole coming from the tech blogs.

I've seen a number of posters saying they're not canceling their orders and hoping the issues will be resolved by the time they receive their phone. I wouldn't expect any of the issues that can be attributed to the manufacturing process to be resolved in time to effect standing pre-orders. It sounds like Google hasn't even decided to correct anything yet and are still "actively investigating". Assuming they make a decision to make a change to something in their manufacturing process, that change will not be instantaneous. In generally takes time to implement changes to manufacturing. If you're of the mindset to take a wait and see approach, you might want to cancel your order, wait on news of updated devices hitting shelves, and by that time there would likely be no waiting period to get a device. I would also suspect the more people that cancel orders, the more it will force Google to act. Just my $0.02.
