[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

OK, I ran a search and came up with nada.

When I run WinImage to nookhoney02.img, I get "error reading file."

As kind of a noob. I get that I'm probably screwing something up. Any ideas?

Hi! Newbie here with quick question. I was able to install Honeycomb on my microsd card and got it running on my NC without a problem.

The next step of installing market was where I had trouble, b/c I wanted to work on the adb steps. Is the microSD card supposed to be inside the Nook when connected, or it is supposed to be separate (in an adapter)?

I had my microSD in the NC and then plugged the device into my PC by USB...my PC won't recognize the NC... is this supposed to happen? Or, should I just have the microSD in an SD adapter and plug it into my PC separately (outside of the Nook)? Thanks in advance!

Great work by Will Shanklin and great tips by those posting on here, btw! :)

Oh, I saw someone post a question earlier and not sure if it's already been answered...the question was whether you can still access your Nook library after installing this Honeycomb version...the answer is: no (at least for me). Please let me know if I'm wrong, b/c I would love to be able to access my Nook books...

OK, I have the image burned onto my micro sd card and rebooted my nc with it inside. All I get is a clock and a message to enter a password to unencrypt the disk. I've haven't seen anyone mention anything about a password, does anyone know what it is?

You are the 3rd person with this issue but as far as I know there isn't a solution

Same problem here. Been trying to figure it out since last night.

My card is a 32GB Patriot.

I installed the Torrent link to image w/Google apps, LCD Density = 150 already in place (credit dehidding): nookhoney02a.zip.

Everything seems to have gone okay, except I don't actually see any Google apps. Which apps should I expect to see?

I'm having this also. :-\

Mine looks like this

nookhoneycomb.jpg

"Enter a password to decrypt storage."

The phrase didn't even show up on a Google search last night, so I posted at XDA. Today it only shows up because of that thread and the mentions in this thread.

Edit: So far I have burned the rom in Win32DiskImager and in WinImage. Same results both times.

I've read that you need to check to make sure the sd card is NOT set to read-only by checking its properties. Something else you might want to check, one guy fixed it because there is a sliding tab on the sd card that prevents writing.

The card is definitely getting written to. I get the sideways "android_" text and and centered "ANDROID" logo during boot, then it jumps to the "password to decrypt" screen.

Hey guys, I have a brand new 8Gb SD card that my Win XP OS recognizes and reformatted. Unzipped the files using Winrar on my desktop, dropped a *.img file.... downloaded eval copy of WinImage. All the right things are in place but it will not let me restore to the SD card. Is it bacause the default format is *.img? Thouroughly confused here.... Have all the tools and no luck. Also downloaded the new Honeycomb 2 image.

Addendum to my post... error is: Error writing to disk, access denied. I am admin on on the system.

No issues doing the re-install with updated image on Mac. Am amazed at the speed of which the updates are coming. Great work !

Has anyone been able to download or install any apps from Marketplace yet ? Not sure if just me but I can see the apps, click on it to download but it never progresses. Tried viewing PDFs attached in Gmail and don't get the previous msg about not having SD card anymore but I don't seem to see anything under "Downloads".

So installed the honeycomb with market preinstalled and everything is working fine. Does anyone know how to get apps to work full screen now?
